I was probably the same kind of behavior that resulted in me having to stay out until 2 am the day before I had to get up before 6 am in order catch a plane the next day. You see, some people will think, I need to open this to see the message.
Say then, if there were to be a virus created that destroyed lots of people's BIOS. Can't that damage be repaired? I've heard that some machines allow you to "hot-swap" the BIOS or simply get another one from the manufacturer.
Also, I once had a machine that got its BIOS toasted. I was able to fix it because the machine has some sort of "backup" that allows you to boot a simple DOS floppy and flash it again.
RIAA is one of those weird recursive acronyms, like GNU.
RIAA stands for RIAA IsAn Acronym. ( Can you think of any other good words that start with the letter "A"? I don't suppose that any come to mind at all! )
I keep hearing about how it is that some web servers are set to block your access if your user agent does not report IE. Then again, alternative browser makers don't want you to report that you're using IE because then there is the illusion that everyone is using IE. I think it would be good if there was a "masquerade as IE" button in the toolbar to use on a case-by-case basis to get into troublesome web pages. That way, we can get into web pages they only want IE on, and everyone else who collects statistics sees we're using Mozilla / Opera / (your favorite browser).
After this, expect an encryption hand-shake / key-exchange exchange with IE only servers to make sure that you're actually using IE. A circumvention will be punishable under the DMCA. Microsoft will say, "OMG, U'r ga|ning unaUthoriz3d @cce$s to bAnk[ng inf0rmat]oN!!!"
Think about it. For the most part, I would guess that ebooks are mostly marketed toward technically inclined folks, like the/. crowd. How many of us are willing to put up with DRM. If we buy this product with DRM, we empower them to make more DRM crippled products!!!
I see... I don't own a TiVo and mistakenly assumed that the functionality of the box was limited to recording programs and "pausing" live TV. Thanks for the info!
Now, we can all expect Autorun to not automatic in furture versions of Windows. If you disable it, you'll be branded a pirate. BTW, how do you disable autorun in LINUX?
Let me throw out there the fact that the 9th Circus Court tried to ban the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in school. Also, the three judge panel that tried to postpone the California recall election was from the 9th Circus Court. They are one of the most overturned courts in the country.
There's another problem this could help with.

Although I would agree with the posters that this will not solve the problem of people who own a domain that they want spam sent from, let me point out something else.
Perhaps this could stop spammers from spoofing the addresses of other internet users. However, I don't know if this will stop spammers from using whatever return address they want to regardless of what domain they send their spam from. Would it?
You better keep quiet about that one. Next thing you know, we'll be paying a fee to SCO for our telephones because there are *NIX routers at the call routing center.
"Computer, I need to see the Captain's log. Where is it?" "The Captain's log is in the john."
Absolutely!!! HL is awesome!!!
If it's approved, some California activist judge will throw it out by judicial fiat, just like every other voter innitiative in California.

It's the Slashdot Counter Outage.
You have up to thirty days to activate Linux. After thirty days, you must activate Linux to continue using it.
Do you want to register:

Thank you very much, MS. I HATE your stupid activation scheme. Please quit treating me like a criminal.

Yeah, it boggles the mind that they can sell you a box AND charge you to use it even though it costs them nothing when you use it.
LOL - If I had mod points, I'd mod you up!!!
Call Jeff Bezos to write up a patent application for the process of distributing music "with a computer."
