yeah, i think DEC shoulda courted the fringe assiduously - something like Apple.. guarantee that an inferior product lives on by hiding it in colorful plastic; hold cult meetings in San Francisco too, that obviously helps. I think that's the only good business decision Apple's ever made, really... bungle everything else, fuck your 'most innovatice developers' if you want, but maintain a stranglehold on the religion and call it hardware. Brainwash your followers too, cuz that sure helps.. Hell, even if the benchmarks tell the truth, all those goatfuckers who shelled out huge bucks will do everything to justify themselves, even though the truth is self-evident.

OSX blows goats. OSX != quality. OSX == rabid resource hog. I realize that all those mac-owners have to try to justify the wild expense of their hardware somehow, but making superficial comments (Yugo? what the hell are you smoking? you wish you had a P4) that really mean nothing isn't that justification - it's not a valid comparison. You might want to look here for some benchmarks, smartass. did i mention i'm a switcher? from fucking apple crap to intel, cuz performance is king.

If (l)users can only save data to consolidated storage (SAN, etc) then they can't just walk off with it. Obviously. Jerkface. Plus you can monitor access to a single point about a million times easier than you can monitor the independent activities of hundreds of separate machines on a LAN. Again, self-evident shit here. Dumb terminals ensure that all the processing is ALSo done in a single (presumably) secure environment. Click here for a more concise dissertation on the subject.. I'm sure you'll walk away enlightened.

I think that the GUI has run its inevitable course and now Linux is moving away from the desktop metaphor into the command line. after all, that's where its strength lies - not in shoddy crap like GNOME and KDE. It's time for a breakthrough and GNOME 2 is _not_ it. Sorry to say so.
