First off, he does not live in Az.
Secondly, he is working at trying to kill off their nuclear power plant. Right now, Az is a low emitter BECAUSE of their nuclear power. Instead of trying to close nuke plants, the far left should focus on replacing fossil fuel plants. In this case, the bill should require that all utilities have a minimum of 60% clean energy, along with requiring 2/3 of the energy to be base-load (i.e. on-demand).

The real problem here, is that the west has dropped our guard and continues to allow Chinese (and russian) spies in.
It is time to stop this insanity. We need to move security clearances back to the FBI.
Oddly, Trump is headed down the right road on this.

So many of you have gripped about net neutrality, which was a fucking joke. The best thing to do was to allow net neutrality to go. After all, the argument went that it was freedom for these companies. Ok.

Now, I have been arguing that the Sats esp. Starlink, along with utility style broadband, should be allowed and would make a HUGE difference. In fact, with net neutrality gone, these will grow fast.

However, I was wondering if Trump's ppl would pull their BS. The first one is to go after 'rural broadband' and is trying to come up with solution whereby the same monopolies that pushed to rid net neutrality, now want to have another monopoly in the rural areas, again without net neutrality, but in control of all access.
Now, they are pushing against utility broadband.

This is where the REAL fight is at. Net Neutrality was simply a waste of effort.

That is supposed to be part of a good college degree. The issue lies in the universities trying to cater too much to the students. After all, Business majors have not required ethics until just recently and it is a joke from what I have seen.

  12. In fact, it is the same issue that we have with pushing College on everybody. We need to return to teaching kids not just blue collar, but life skills. I would LOVE for my kids to come out of high school knowing how to run not just 3D printers, table saws, radial arm saws, laser cutters, etc, but also how to make a meal, wash clothes, sew, etc. We used to do that, but NO MORE.

Or that we offer loads of scholarships for athletics, or simply good grades, but not for doing degrees that American businesses need. We should offer up major savings on science degrees, based on their grades. If they are getting decent grades, and taking Math, Physics, Chemistry/Bio-Chem, Engineering, C. Sci, Robotics, etc, than we cover their tuition costs and apply it to next semester. OTOH, if somebody wants to get say C and take up English, fine. You pay for it. Likewise, you want to take up business, since we have such a surplus of Business ppl, then we pay nothing for them.

  13. thats because this is being done wrong on With Few US Students Taking CS Classes, Code.org 'Scales Back' Funding For CS Education (acm.org) · · Score: 1

Instead of focusing on High school, focus efforts at COmmunity College levels.

Assume that this was an intro CS class. If they get an A, pay 66%. B? pay 50%. c? Pay 33%.
Once they get up higher, say Algorithms/Data Structures, pay 100% on A, 75% on B, and 50% on C.
Finally, once into upper-end classes that can help a company directly, then pay 100/90/60 on A/B/C.

The point being that if Society, specifically, companies like Google and Microsoft are really short, then getting students to switch to CS and not have a debt, will make a huge difference.

China has a lot of desert. At this time, the gov is pushing the forest INTO the desert and actually retaking land back. So, yeah, they are trying to clean up things.

  19. We desperately need nuclear SMRs to be able to replace the city coal plants that we have. In AMerica, nearly all coal plants located within cities are under .5GW. These are IDEAL to replace with SMALL SAFE nuclear reactors. Nuscale is ideal since they are 60 MW / reactor and can not fail (shy of dropping a nuke on it ). Put in 3-4 of these and you can replace the old coal plants. That would enable us to cut our coal back by 1/2 to 2/3. We would likely also see it replace nat gas since we will shortly see our nat gas prices jump quite high. Not as high as global levels, but high enough that inexpensive nukes will be ideal to put in place.

  20. Actually, there is plenty of land to make an impact. For example, here in western America, we are losing our forest to pine beetle kill and now, Spruce beetles are coming. What we should be doing is allowing the dead/dying trees to be harvested ('blue pine' is beautiful ), and then replant the area. We can use drones to do that. Ideally, we can intersperse different species to prevent the pine/spruce beetle kills in the future. The nice thing about planting these trees NOW, is that initially, they will not use up that much CO2. BUT, as they grow bigger, their yearly uptake will increase. IOW, by the time that these are taking up large quantities of CO2, we will, hopefully, have stopped adding new coal plants, killed off the all of the old coal plants, and removed at least the old vehicles, and stopped selling ICE vehicles everywhere. IOW, we will have stabilized our CO2 emissions to not grow them.

  21. The same group that is pushing this, is the same group of ppl that push for utility solar grids that go over land.
Instead, if they would put the solar on rooftops or over parking lots, it would take sunlight that is today converted into heat, and convert it into electricity.
Yet, the far left will push the lot thing while at the same time, ignoring the fact that they are also saying to use that same land for plants.

Far right and left extremists are total idiots.

  24. Actually. no.
Going to CHina would be one of the more expensive routes.
Look at this map. VERY FEW Chinese locations are shared between America, and South Korea. If looking for a 3rd indirect hop, Japan would be far more likely. In fact, it was obviously designed for just that. Multiple links from America go to Japan. In every location that has an American link, also has links to S. Korea.
