  1. Such a STUPID article and original post on Another Stab At Sorting Hybrid Hype From Reality · · Score: 1

First, Hybrids are NOT EVs. Period. They are HYBRIDS. Quit trying to lump them in together.
Second, there are 2 types of hybrids. Parallel and Serial. Parallel is what ALL of the car (and SUV) are. They make ZERO sense. Why? Because you very the engine speed all over. Basically, you take a normal car/SUV and add a complex transmission, and then add a motor (which functions as generator) and a small set of batteries and expect to get increased milage. In a city, it MIGHT get you some. But not 10K worth.

HOWEVER, A serial hybrid makes GREAT sense for large SUV/Trucks/Commercial systems. Why? Because an engine is hooked to a generator which charges the battery at a SET SPEED. IOW, you run your engine at the best RPM possible. You remove the complex transmission and give a simple one. This drives the batteries and motor that turns the wheels. Where is this current used at? Diesel Trains. All diesel trains are based on the same set-up. And the reason is that they are EFFICIENT FOR LARGE SYSTEMS. But not for small cars.

Cars should be either fully EV or Fully gas. It should not be a hybrid car. The ONLY reason for doing a hybrid car, is for the bean counters.

Not even CLOSE to truth. Iran is LOADED with oil. If you look at that chart, they will last 100 years with their oil. There is ZERO reason for them to do Nukes.

However, I agree with you about EU, though it applies to most of the west. That is why we need the west to move to electric and natural gas vehicles. And yes, we need nukes. There is no getting around it.

As to USA not invading nations with nukes, do not bet on it. Just because we have not done so, does not mean that we will not. My guess is that if Iran blows a nuke, that we WILL invade them.

First off, many EU nations cheat at what they do. For example, it was shown that France and Germany imported massive amounts of Iraqi oil when all agreed to not do that. So, their saying that, really means about as much as China's agreement on FTAs, or China's seeking agreement on weapons in space: IOW, worthless. However, EU does not import that much of Iranian oil. It is Asia that would make a difference. In particular, South Korea, China and Japan. THink that any of them will change their habits?

And no doubt, Israel has a number of nukes on missiles designed to hit Iran. If Iran launches, then Iran WILL be wiped out.

OTH, America's concern would be if China decides to jump in. If they, the question, do they have 300 or 3000 missiles. Right now, the NRO, CIA, NSA, and DOD are hard at work trying to figure out if China has that. Without knowing that, if China launches, you can bet on it that we WILL go after China.

Now that a stable area is looking at earthquakes, they MIGHT re-think it. Hopefully, the oil companies will lean on Ohio in the same fashion that they did the president for putting in a temp ban in the gulf. However, considering that the republicans/oil companies did NOTHING when republican controlled cities put temp bans on, I am guessing that they will do little there as well.
