First, Hybrids are NOT EVs. Period. They are HYBRIDS. Quit trying to lump them in together.
Second, there are 2 types of hybrids. Parallel and Serial. Parallel is what ALL of the car (and SUV) are. They make ZERO sense. Why? Because you very the engine speed all over. Basically, you take a normal car/SUV and add a complex transmission, and then add a motor (which functions as generator) and a small set of batteries and expect to get increased milage. In a city, it MIGHT get you some. But not 10K worth.
HOWEVER, A serial hybrid makes GREAT sense for large SUV/Trucks/Commercial systems. Why? Because an engine is hooked to a generator which charges the battery at a SET SPEED. IOW, you run your engine at the best RPM possible. You remove the complex transmission and give a simple one. This drives the batteries and motor that turns the wheels. Where is this current used at? Diesel Trains. All diesel trains are based on the same set-up. And the reason is that they are EFFICIENT FOR LARGE SYSTEMS. But not for small cars.
Cars should be either fully EV or Fully gas. It should not be a hybrid car. The ONLY reason for doing a hybrid car, is for the bean counters.
Why are you certain that the X-37B is not there to spy on the chinese?
Had this been the first flight, I would agree. But, this is at least the second flight.
To be honest, once spacex has their FH working, we would be smart to develop a small telescope that can be popped into lunar craters esp. on the poles and far side of the moon. Add some relay sats, and away you go. The same can be done on mars.
And scratch them? Seriously? There is little moisture there. And the wind is thin. In addition, the dirt is sticking, so you would need water to make it come off.
However, rather than wipers, a small air pump that can blow high pressure air over the surface.
Not even CLOSE to truth.
Iran is LOADED with oil. If you look at that chart, they will last 100 years with their oil. There is ZERO reason for them to do Nukes.
However, I agree with you about EU, though it applies to most of the west. That is why we need the west to move to electric and natural gas vehicles.
And yes, we need nukes. There is no getting around it.
As to USA not invading nations with nukes, do not bet on it. Just because we have not done so, does not mean that we will not. My guess is that if Iran blows a nuke, that we WILL invade them.
First off, many EU nations cheat at what they do. For example, it was shown that France and Germany imported massive amounts of Iraqi oil when all agreed to not do that. So, their saying that, really means about as much as China's agreement on FTAs, or China's seeking agreement on weapons in space: IOW, worthless. However, EU does not import that much of Iranian oil. It is Asia that would make a difference. In particular, South Korea, China and Japan. THink that any of them will change their habits?
Nope. Romney's advisers are mostly W's advisers, with a few from reagan's time. Romney is a PURE neo-con. To vote for him is to vote for more W's politics. And this is what neo-con policies look like
Actually, it is smart to pay attention to Iowa when it comes to the republican primary and the final. They picked huckabee last time to win and then picked mccain for president. I think Iowa just showed that Romney and probably santorum will not get the nod.
I seriously doubt it. It would be confined to the middle east, unless Iran decides to send them to EU. I doubt that Russia and China want to get involved. And I SERIOUSLY doubt that we fire anything that will go over their territory. We have plenty of nukes stationed in the Indian ocean and the atlantic. And no doubt, Israel has a number of nukes on missiles designed to hit Iran. If Iran launches, then Iran WILL be wiped out.
What you describe is what happened in the INITIAL part of it. Van Ripen was set up so that they COULD see what was happening.
In the second half, the reds were told to lose. Period. That is no longer a test. That is not even a poorly rigged gameshow. That was a scripted media event.
I think that they are trying to buy time. Basically, they do not want us to blockade them. So, they do these threats, we do some back, and we do a meeting. Sad actually.
When Iran BSed that way, we should not have said a thing, simply moved in another carrrier group and kept very quiet.
Not really. If Iran oil is pulled from the market, the rest of opec can make it up. Our problem would be Venezuela. They might decide to leave the market in support (though not sure how long). THAT would hurt.
The one nice thing is that such a war would get us off of imported oil PDQ. Basically, we would push electric and natural gas vehicles very quickly. Likewise, Canada's pipeline would be sped up.
We were also technologically advanced over nam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. America would suffer a bloody nose with a war on Iran. HOWEVER, if it is prolonged, it will become a draw quickly. The reason is that China will support them the same way that they did North Korea.
The 2'nd half was scripted. IOW, they told the reds what to do. Van Ripen retired rather than be party to such a joke. And when the approach and outcome are scripted, it is no longer a challenge. Then it is just a media ploy.
That is interesting. That would give us enough time to put an ion engine on it or two and try to control it to keep it in orbit. It would not only be a simple way to capture an asteroid, but give us loads of practice at what it will take. A couple of meters in diameter is a bedroom sized item, so not that easy to control. But since it is here, if we can bring it down and then play with it, R&D it, that is great experience for going to large asteroids and mining them. Heck, if we are going to an asteroid around 2025, this makes great practice.
Yet, if we continue drilling all over, lowering our imports, but at the same time, EVERYBODY will see the impact, then we will finally make the right choice. By our importing much of our oil and the fact that so many ppl did not see the issues, it allowed them to ignore the consequences. Now that a stable area is looking at earthquakes, they MIGHT re-think it. Hopefully, the oil companies will lean on Ohio in the same fashion that they did the president for putting in a temp ban in the gulf. However, considering that the republicans/oil companies did NOTHING when republican controlled cities put temp bans on, I am guessing that they will do little there as well.

Being closer to the pole is NOT the issue. Lack of light, pollution, moisture, and atmosphere are the issues. So, being on top of a tall cold mountain in Northern Alaska or Canada would do equally nicely.
To be honest, once spacex has their FH working, we would be smart to develop a small telescope that can be popped into lunar craters esp. on the poles and far side of the moon. Add some relay sats, and away you go. The same can be done on mars.
there should be more than a few points that are up high there as well.
And scratch them? Seriously? There is little moisture there. And the wind is thin. In addition, the dirt is sticking, so you would need water to make it come off. However, rather than wipers, a small air pump that can blow high pressure air over the surface.
If they REALLY wanted to stop it, simply threaten to pull the manufacturing and bring it back to USA. Then Chinese gov. will stop it.
Iranian oil has been in decline for decades.
Not even CLOSE to truth. Iran is LOADED with oil. If you look at that chart, they will last 100 years with their oil. There is ZERO reason for them to do Nukes.

Still sitting in your parents basement? THis is about math, not about simple ideas.
no, no. That is not our nation. That is all democracy. If you want ease of memorizing, just stay in china.
Actually, it is smart to pay attention to Iowa when it comes to the republican primary and the final. They picked huckabee last time to win and then picked mccain for president. I think Iowa just showed that Romney and probably santorum will not get the nod.
Need to double the electricity.
USSR was dying in the 70's. We knew it then. In fact, reagan actually extended their lifetime by selling them grain when carter had cut them off.
I seriously doubt it. It would be confined to the middle east, unless Iran decides to send them to EU. I doubt that Russia and China want to get involved. OTH, America's concern would be if China decides to jump in. If they, the question, do they have 300 or 3000 missiles. Right now, the NRO, CIA, NSA, and DOD are hard at work trying to figure out if China has that. Without knowing that, if China launches, you can bet on it that we WILL go after China.

I keep thinking of USSR in its last days. They invaded Afghanistan, and everybody claimed that it was all about the oil. Sound familiar?
Not really. If Iran oil is pulled from the market, the rest of opec can make it up. Our problem would be Venezuela. They might decide to leave the market in support (though not sure how long). THAT would hurt.

IFF Iran uses a nuke, will we. However, if Iran should blow one, I would hate to be anywhere in Iran.
The 2'nd half was scripted. IOW, they told the reds what to do. Van Ripen retired rather than be party to such a joke. And when the approach and outcome are scripted, it is no longer a challenge. Then it is just a media ploy.
