Apple trees are actually heavily grown in the northern parts of USA. They actually NEED a long cold spell to allow them to fruit in the spring. Without that, they will not have any. That is why you will not find many fruit bearing Apple trees south of mid-Colorado.
The big issue is that you will find apple juice coming from California, Texas, and even Florida. Almost all of that is now from China.
That is why I only consume stuff now from Colorado grown orchards. I KNOW that these came from here. The big labels are using China. That is also why I do not order apple juice out of any restaurant, and esp. NOTHING from California. California does not grow enough apple trees to produce and yet, they create a lot of apple juice. The fact is that wells fargo and other large banks are investing into China's many businesses. Many of those are likely to go tits-up in this next year, leaving America holding the bag (and without ANY ability to sue in China or here).

SMALL amounts of Uranium has been the main item used. The interesting part is that the uranium is not a lump, but separated throughout the reactor and up high. If the reactor overheats too much, the thorium would melt, drop to the bottom below the uranium into a pan and that would stop the reaction.
Basically, India is duplicating in 2011, the work that was started in the mid-late 60s (FSV was a product of several other thorium research reactors). General Atomic had the core correct for FSV. Sadly, they used a number of sub-standard parts for the water/steam heat system (from helium to water). If GA was smart, they would re-do their earlier work but as a small reactors that can make use of 'waste' fuel as the neutrons (which is STILL happening). With such an approach, old reactors around the USA and the world can be converted to using thorium, while burning up the 'waste' that we have, and all on site.

Look, I am a supporter of AE. We need it. The problem is, that we are are not being realists. We have spent our time and money focused on 2 of the worst choices: wind and solar. Neither are capable of being on-demand. So, we would need storage. How much work do we do on it? Realistically, little to nothing. So, until we have loads of storage combined with large amounts of multiple types of AE, you can not drop fossil fuel or nukes.
BTW, the BEST AE, is geo-thermal. And yet, we spend a fraction of the money on it that we spend on Wind and Solar.
What is bothersome is that proof is now showing up that droughts and climate issues are man-made. Now, they are looking to close their nuke plants. Foolish. Instead, it should remain part of their energy matrix until they get enough other energy and storage going.

The F9 has had MINOR issues, but all rockets have issues when first starting. But what TXP said had nothing backing it up. Progress rockets are the same rockets that launch soyuz capsule. The 2'nd stage is what failed before. Now, they are testing a progress module which provides cargo. And just for reference, I would think that with more than several hundred launches under their belt using this equipment, I would have to guess that it is safe, and your scientific opinion may be wrong.
