    Think about it for a second. He said no one could write a program in under 100 lines that could run as fast as his. He is the one deciding the task and he'll pick on that Java is meant for that no other language handles nicely. Meaning you'll be the one losing money. Now if it was any task in general then you have a case.

    I understand that but like most of the latest processors they get pushed at the everyday consumer "Joe Schmoo" who only needs it for spreadsheets. They push these things saying "You need the latest and greatest for that use." The user then gets it in their head that faster is better no matter what the cost is. For the heavy-users (minimal number of users) this is great.

    Exactly. Lately I have started to hate cable modems due to the lack of speed and throughput. I need to push 100-300mb files through for work, term serv, and vpn many times and the speed just isn't there. Although this may be due to the increase of users lately.
