    Yes it is an ignorance parade. That site was last updated 3 1/2 years ago. And if you read the first paragraph which is about the Compact Flash specifications you will see that it is an interface. Then they go on to talk about how the current (at the time) crop of CF cards are designed. So what? Sure, the name Compact Flash comes from the fact that the first devices made were flash devices. Why? Because no one had made a HD that small. However that doesn't change the fact that Compact Flash defines an interface spec and not a storage medium. Look at the actual spec and you will see this is true. But why should you care? You're just a stupid anony-troll.

    Why does Microsoft feel like it needs to talk about a new product for a year before it's released?

    Why does anyone think that a $700-800 geek toy that isn't "cool" is going to be a "hot product" around Christmas?

    Why would anyone want to carry around something significantly larger than the iPod when the iPod mini is becoming a big hit because of it's smaller size?

    At least Mark Milligan seems to be on the right track...

    Thus the reference to the crystal ball. Harm to the consumer tends to be more of a long-term issue. So I guess it's best to file your lawsuit five to ten years after the fact.

    Regardless of how well OpenOffice works on the Mac, it looks and acts nothing like a Mac program on the Mac. If an application doesn't fit in seamlessly it is inferior.

    I don't know what % Jobs personally owns, but insiders own 57% of the company. Jobs stands to gain a lot more money by doing something to help Pixar than by doing something to help Apple that hurts Pixar.

    Some things are fairly well provable. Such as size or weight comparisons. That's not a matter of opinion. It falls into the realm of fact.

    I don't know, but I can tell you what *I* do. When I post a request and someone responds with something that isn't even vaguely in the ballpark I tend to think either
    1) that person's an idiot
    or
    2) that person's trolling for a fight

    I know of one 4GB player selling for less than the iPod mini: the Creative MuVo (sells for $200). Of course the 1.5GB players sell for less. That's not surprising.

    And the iRiver iHP-120 is the same price as the iPod. The iRiver has slightly more features whereas the iPod has great usability and design. That hardly makes the iPod "overpriced".

    That thing is 3 times the size and almost twice the weight of a 20GB iPod.

    I didn't even mention Quality - just storage/size/weight. Surely you can do better than that?

    The iPod is a slick but over-priced piece of hardware

    If it were over-priced someone would have come out with a copy that is the same storage/size/weight but cheaper. Can you point me to such a product?

    Imagine how you'll be treated when your chart has you labeled as "malpractice lawsuit plaintiff." The doctor won't even come into the room.

    Think that's bad? Imagine how you would be treated as a lawyer! Once they find out you're a lawyer many doctors will run ten times as many tests as they otherwise would. It pays to keep your mouth shut (or even lie) about your profession.

    2) This potentially hugely damaging to MS. If the allegations are true (I'd put money on it), they're in breach of the settlements. Kollar-Kotelly, the judge of the punishment phase, will certainly want to take another look at the case. The various state Attorney Generals will want to reopen the case. There might also be new criminal charges filed, not to mention civil cases. At the very least, we should see some investigations. And I haven't even mentioned how this might play out internationally.

    Correction, when the case was sent back to CKK it was for corrective measures, not punishment. She was not allowed to punish MS.

    The problem with comparing dollar amounts is the question arises as to whether we are talking about constant dollars. Assuming a 4% annual rate of inflation that $2.5 billion in 1990 would be expected to grow to $4 billion by 2002 without any real increase in exports. So it's hard to tell if this really means anything....

    First, IBM is using SSOI (Strained Silicon on Insulator). Second, the last statistics I saw showed a greater than 50% power consumption reduction with the new 970FX processors (die shrink and SSOI). That's promising.
