It depends on the "opinion" really. For example, I'd say that anyone capable of believing that the world is ~6,000 years old and created by a petty, violent sky daddy is considerably less intelligent than me. There are also the cases of "opinions" formed a level of ignorance so extreme as to be indistinguishable from stupidity. Personally I don't care to make the distinction in these cases since for any practical purpose, and regardless of any intellectual capability they might have, these people are far less intelligent than I am.

"Liberals" being "open-minded" is a large part of how we got into this mess. It's fine to let people have different viewpoints, but sometimes people really are just wrong and to act as if they aren't is ridiculous and counter-productive.

Though it is quickly getting there, especially with the continued march of the republican party to the right of even their ignorant, frightened constituency, which is leading to more republicans become democrats and shifting the ideology of the party further toward insanity.

Which isn't an excuse for the democarts. But at least I can name a handful of democrats who legitimately aren't bad guys. I can't even think of a republican who I could say the same about, to say nothing of coming up with their name. You also forget that democrats (no matter how good or bad they are) are generally much easier to kick out of office than republicans because they use fewer dirty tricks and have a less brainless base.

Phishing is not going to be anywhere near as easy with a distributed authentication system - each openid provider has a different looking authentication page.

Yes, having the authentication pages doesn't make it any harder to run a phishing scam. The customization part is completely different from whether or not their authentication pages looking different, and might be of some use. Though then you have to remember what pictures or phrases or whatever you picked for each site.

In my experience with this kind of thing there are a limited selection of pictures that if picked at random by a malicious site would still get them right for enough people that it would be a problem, and when they have phrases or something I tend to ignore it just like I do all the other text that isn't/doesn't appear important. I assume (and I'm sure there are studies to back this up) that most people also ignore similar unformation (like information, but not informing of anything). The usefulness of these tactics in stopping people who are susceptible to this kind of scam from getting caught in it are fairly low and for everyone else it'll just range from being an annoyance (setting these things up can be really annoying the way some site implement them) to just being something that they ignore.

The real problem is that everyone is looking for some kind of a magic bullet to save us from idiots, but no one is willing to say that what we really need is to educate those who can be educated and stop those who can't from getting near anything if it could affect anyone else.

Yeah, the democrats have really been disappointing since they took control of congress. The problem we have in this country is that for most people if you aren't electing a democrat you are electing a republican. I don't know about you, but for my money the republicans are a whole lot worse than the democrats. If for no other reason (and there are many others) than that the democrats are a whole lot easier to throw out of power because they have fewer dirty tricks and don't own the voting machines or the supreme court.

Despite how poorly the democrats have served us lately it is still ridiculous to claim that there is no difference between the two parties.

There is evidence supporting quantum theory, moron. There is a difference between having no evidence and lacking anyone who understands the evidence. There is no evidence for god and never will be, simply because such a thing does not exist (there'd be even a tiny hint of evidence if there were, and there isn't). There is an immense amount of evidence supporting quantum theory, it's just that no one really understands how or why it works. Some day that will probably be worked out, but until then the predictive abilities of the theory are extremely useful. Which is a lot more than can be said for the ignorant belief in tribal fairy tales.
