The moral of this story is that idiots like that guy should stfu and not upgrade their hardware and softwaer so that their crappy old chess games will still run on their machines. That or he should just get a text-based chess game like a normal person.
That's complete bullshit. I've seen several BSOD when running XP on this box, as well as mysterious rebooting for absolutely no reason. I have yet to have a kernel panic on it running Linux, however. And it runs Linux about 95% of the time.
Though maybe you and your friends just can't hack the superiority of Slackware and get stuck with crappy distros.
No, you're totally wrong. Apple has got the best con going in the business. They make a horrible system with an interface so dumbed down as to be almost useless and brainwash their users into thinking it is better because they can't do anything with it.
Of course the real brilliance of Apple is that they do all of that, and then convince people that it's worth paying a hefty premium for the privilege.
It's very similar to how micros~1 tricks people into thinking that instability and security exploits are just part of the game and also worth the big dollar ransom to use.
Notice how he didn't name any names so as not to piss off his corporate backers? This guy is just another right-wing idiot. townhall.com has never had anything worth reading and even/. is too civilized to be promoting that crap.
Don't see where "demand" means instant access. If you want something and get it when you want that's on demand.
Sort of like if you come over to my house and I go "bitch, go bake me a pie" and you go bake me a pie. Just because it took time to make doesn't mean you didn't bake me a pie when I demanded it.
You do know how funded Saddam in killing the Kurds, don't you?
Using the Kurds as a reason why Saddam needed to be removed is the most ridiculous excuse (of many ridiculous excuses) that morons republicans use. We, being the United States, never gave a damn about the Kurds. In large part because of our cozy relationship with Saddam and then later because of Turkey's interest in supressing their own Kurdish population.
So why don't you shut the fuck up until you have half a clue what you are talking about.
How many people have had their machines turned into spam zombies because of this exploit? I hardly think it can be put in the same sentence as an outlook exploit until that number is greater than 0.
How about cost? OEMs over charge and for crap parts too. The advantage of building is that you don't end up being a moron and paying 2000$ for a computer that's worth less than a grand.
But how many of them buy machines with windows installed and over the lifetime of the machine replace it with linux?
su
checkinstall -y -S
installpkg whateverprogram-x.y.z.tgz
For Slackware 10 checkinstall can be found in the extra/ directory on CD2.
The moral of this story is that idiots like that guy should stfu and not upgrade their hardware and softwaer so that their crappy old chess games will still run on their machines. That or he should just get a text-based chess game like a normal person.
./configure && make && checkinstall -y -S
click. send. you've got mail.
Dragging shit into "Appications" is too much work with all the opening and closing of directory windows.
The real problem with all this installation shit is that they don't realize that everything they need in life comes with Slackware and a used SNES.
He's a republican, what do you expect? He probably has trouble reading well enough to find the options menu.

That CowboyNeil guy keeps hogging the remote and he's always watching those sappy chick flicks.
You live in fantasy land, son. DVD is 480i unless they've started with the progressives VERY recently. I know I've sure as hell never seen one.
But boxen is the right word. When was the last time you saw a herd of boxes?
Remove the copy protection and the game runs fine.
Never had a problem with it in Windows 2000. And I have crappy hardware. You guys must all suck.
I've got to agree, never seen a version of CorelDraw that wasn't ready for prime time.
It's definitely not lacking in bloated file size.

Besides, the new school spelling adds more context: micros~1
How many people have had their machines turned into spam zombies because of this exploit? I hardly think it can be put in the same sentence as an outlook exploit until that number is greater than 0.
Yeah, you don't need Firefox. You're going to get rooted running windows anyway.
Yeah, why spell it M$ when micros~1 has so much more contextual relevance.
What's alot? Can't imagine it's more than 3 minutes per service pack given the number of exploits they put out.
How about cost? OEMs over charge and for crap parts too. The advantage of building is that you don't end up being a moron and paying 2000$ for a computer that's worth less than a grand.
Allow me to introduce you to my little friend Slackware. He's easy to install, plays well with the other kids, and almost never calls in sick to work.
Don't know about SUSE, but I've had much better luck with winmodems on Slackware than I ever did on Windows 2000 or XP.
