I for one is not espcially perturbed. I have great confidence in American scientists, after all, they're responsible for how good our way of life really is.

Just compare the US to the shoddy standards of living in Europe. I'm not saying that the Europeans are stupider, only that their best scientist have wanted to join us, and our way of life.

That this little quibble should affect the US, is just annoying. It's not like we're not capable of keeping and maintaing our own metric system.

The day we allowed ourselves to be this dependant on a rouge nation, was a dark day for sure. We are in all respects the greatest nation on earth, this is just a minor speed bump.

  3. Summary on E.U. Agrees To Launch Galileo Satellite Location System · · Score: 1, Interesting

Just to sum up this discussion so far:

Europeans: There is a need for a european GPS system. The US has proved itself to be rather unpredictable and who knows what they might do in a tight spot.

Americans: This proves it! You piece of crap lame terrorist apologists. If you're not with us, you're against us. The US would never do such a thing to hurt Europe, we're the greatest nation on earth, assholes!

Europeans: That's exactly what we're saying. And why are you so upset that we'll make this system, it's not like it's going to cost you any money?

Americans: Europe has shown it's real colors now! You were wrong about Iraq and you are wrong about the US!! We are the greatest nation on earth, don't nobody else try to be relevant!

    Europeans: Look..

Americans: SPEAK TO THE HAND CAUSE THE HEAD AIN'T LISTENING!!

    Etc. etc.

I've constructed a strawman that's scarily like the majority of Americans posters here. You are truly the most arrogant and loud people I've ever have communicated with. Why don't you stop shouting profanities and try to think it through. Why are Europe so out of rythm with the US? Do you really think we're so jelaous of your way of life?

Granted, it's not a bad thing. But people tend to glorify this movie and elevate it to a position it doesn't deserve. A lot of popular culture tackle interesting questions, but without the mindless violence and pretty effects.

The sad thing is that you probably have to go to these extremes to get young people of today to bother. If you try to add more substance they will get bored.

In my opinion, modern american television programming is a big part of the problem and responsible in many ways for the appearant decay in attention span.

If you really were into philosophy, then you would've read up on it, or watched a movie that's not just an action flick masquerading as something else.

Problem with the young generation of today, is that they lack concentration and got zero attention span. Everything nowadays are abridged, dumbed down and laced with sugar (as in flashy action). People need to wind down and understand that some things are more complex and deserve more attention than the latest Britney Spears hit, or the latest episode of Friends.

Agreed. The music is tame, and the central theme is one of the most boring ever heard in an "epic". My opinion of course.

They should have gone for something like "Requiem for the Ring", which was used in the Two Towers trailer. For those of you who haven't heard it, it's a reorchestration of the "Requiem for a dream" theme, originally by Clint Mansell.
