No kidding, dude. No, actually, install WINE and Windows and run IE, because that's a good idea.
Seriously, other than, say Konqueror (which I wouldn't run on those computers), there's not much else non-mozilla based. And FF is the best in that department, IMHO.
Me, I would go with AbiWord. Word processing without the bloat. Of course, Abi seems to have problems now and then (like, things randomly not rendering), but that may be a problem with the windows version. OpenOffice is nice, but takes bloody forever to start up.
I see. Thank you for actually answering my questions, instead of ranting about, well, nothing at all. I am now enlightened, as opposed to repressed. You just made the world a little bit brighter, I think.
Did you mean 60' or 60"? Because, if you've got a 60 foot television - for 2 grand no less - well DAMN. Tell me where I can get one, and then tell me a place to house it!
There's a MacOSX server? I had no idea. That's weird.
Actually, it's kinda cool. We've got the UNIX stlye environment - proven in the server area - along with the best (IMHO) user interface for setting anything up. I like it.
Did anyone else notice it was from the tin-foil-hat-brigade dept? That means, quite possibly, this is not true. Of course, with all the tinfoilhattery going about on slashdot usually, this will get me modded quite down.
So, what it comes down to is, when made to think about things we don't think about, our thinking is different than our usual actions, making psychological introspection somewhat useless.
Perhaps I've taken it too far.
I haven't read the book or reviews or anything...
but it's my experience that, when the gut feeling is wrong, and i mean really wrong, it's usually your mind tainting and interpereting the feeling - making it something else, assuming a lot. That's the key - is to see it just as it is, with nothing else, especially not grandiose dreams.
Very low, as always. End users (read:Joe Sixpack) simply are not using anything other than the Windows XP Home (ughhhh) that came with their computer. Of course, I can defeat my own argument by saying Joe Sixpack isn't the guy who's going to be using WiFi hotspots. In that vein, it would behoove them to make a MacOS client, seeing how many macs have wireless built in.
Yes, however, for me at least, there is a point where advertising goes too far. Some websites (gamespy's websites in particular) are so chock full of advertisments, and since I have ideological disagreements, I will usually refuse to go to their site, or use their services. Same thing, with adverts being placed inside TV shows and movies. I didn't pay 8 dollars to see a movie and then get hit with the world's biggest coke can on screen.
Sigh. Get an account, and then we can talk. I have gotten viruses from warez - however, I believe it has been repackaged for a site like megagames. Perhaps on things like USENET there aren't any, but there's plenty by the time it hits the WWW - especially when there's another exe packaged with a crack - that's almost always some type of malware in my experience. So, perhaps you've never gotten a virus - good job.
I thought that RAR was better because it used a method very similar to UHARC to provide a much higher compression ratio than ZIP files, especially for multimedia files. So, if storage space is no problem, then you might as well go ahead and use ZIP. But if storage space is no problem, why do you even compress at all? Hell, why not just use TAR? That's a standard, has been for a longer time than zip!
Website: "Hey there end user, do you want to be raped in the assImean install this REALLY Sup0r R0x0r cool thing that makes a monkey dance on your computer!"
End User: "What the fuck... Well, I suppose they DID say it was super roxor cool..."
"Now, why the hell IS that thing dancing, and why is my computer so slow..."
With this scenario all too common, if they get a RAR file with an EXE in it, they sure as hell are gonna try it.
If you're downloading Warez and you're not careful, you deserve to get a virus. That stuff is usually chock full of viruses, malware, zombie programs, etc. If you're gonna do it, lock your computer down. If you're smart enough to avoid viruses, you're smart enough to avoid this one. Otherwise, you have no place in a warez community. People should spend money and buy things legally anyways. Well, that is unless you've got something against liscencing of games and whatnot (valve cough cough), but that's another argument for another time.
Allright people, I compose a lot of music. My computer is running Windows XP. I use FL Studio 5.01. Upon upgrading to XPSP2, FL Studio crashed to the desktop on startup every single time. Now, I'm not sure if it was actually FL Studio or NVIDIA's AISO Nforce2 drivers. However, either way, I can't use the one program I use Windows for, so SP2 is out the door.
Speaking of, is there anything remotely close to FL for Linux for music production?
Hah, this post is modded Troll, even though he's pretty much right, and This got modded insightful, when it's simply more well put.

Hah, that shouldn't be as funny as it is.

Oh, so if I'm a self-proclaimed Linux guru already, I shouldn't have much problem working with the console anyways, hah.
So, are these server programs standard with OSX? Judging by what you say, then, it's not yet time for me to buy that Mac Mini...

DNS Error, bitch. Goatse.un my ASS. Probably his ass, actually.

Just to play devil's advocate, are you sure that these chips don't actually expire in some way?
So, we should make printers that use Jet Engine Fuel. It'd be cheaper, no doubt.

Shhh! If people who buy self help books actually went out and helped themselves, then this market would disapper!

Couldn't you just somehow 'AdBlock' their ad servers? Hosts file? C'mon people!

Of course, a beowulf cluster of grid computers would be much better, agree?

And that is why I am replaying things like, Oh, Half-Life. And Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles.
