PCI-X is heavily parallel. It's not much more than a faster clocked variant of good old 64-bit PCI.
PCI Express (PCIe) is the serial one. It uses multiple channels which can be bonded to make one large channel (as is used for PCIe x16 video hardware, 16 seperate PCIe channels in one slot).
Bluetooth from laptop to phone that is roughly 30 feet away, dialing in to a modem bank at my university. Claims 9600bps, realistically it's more like 1200 right now due to low signal strength (1 bar).
Close enough to a radio modem.
Now if only I could afford the GPRS data plan...analog modem over GSM = lose
I see all these replies saying how they should have found a better way to store the key on the device. What morons. In no way should you ever store the key on the device when you can just do exactly as you described. The driver can just check the first few blocks and see if they look like a valid partition map, and if so, the key was right.
Works great with a few minor problems. Namely, Googlebar, Firesomething, and Downloadwith were disabled upon installation due to incompatibility.
WTF is with that? I thought the new extension system introduced a few versions ago was supposed to stop this crap.
Firesomething isn't a priority, cos it's just there to be goofy, and I haven't used DLwith in a while, but the Googlebar is used multiple times a day, so I need that.
"I hope that someone modifies the Gecko rendering system to something that can be a full replacement for IEs, and you can actually view a page the way its supposed to look while using IE (and all the programs that use IEs rendering engine for inline HTML proccessing)."
It's the Gecko engine turned in to an ActiveX control that is functionally compatible with the IE control. There is even a tool on the site that can scan and patch programs with IE embedded (such as AOL, Winamp, etc.) to use the Mozilla control.
I agree. I have this huge and totally useless parallel port on the back of my laptop, but no legacy serial at all, not even IrDA (not that I miss that thanks to bluetooth). Dropping that infernal parellel port would leave room for a serial port and give the extra room to have a proper DVI-I video output instead of a VGA.
The quality is great, the data plan is cheap, and the one time I called a tech they helped me out quickly, knowing exactly how to make my bluetooth connection do exactly what I wanted it to.
It never ceases to amaze me that people keep buying into that false belief that it's the President's fault for all of the economic problems, etc.
But...wait...the nice man on the TV said told me...
Seriously...TV/Radio and politics should be separated by law. there are too many details involved to be covered in a 30 second or 1 minute news story. Not that I'm saying other forms of media are any less biased one way or another, just printed/typed articles have the space to go in to far more detail than anything short of a full TV/Radio show devoted to a specific topic.
Gift cards are there because some people have a problem with giving/recieving cash, they think it's somehow worse than a "real" gift. These people then think that by giving a gift card, that this is somehow better than cash.
Really, gift cards are for morons, plain and simple. Give the gift of cash. It's the perfect gift because it's always just what they want.
It is probably that the only difference between their really expensive workstation cards and their consumer level cards (apart from maybe better QC) is what the driver does.
This is actually exactly right for many cards.
Over quite a few generations of card, the Radeon and FireGL have been identical. Same with the GeForce and Quadro. There are numerous hacks to switch them around, sometimes gaining performance in certain apps.
Most of these worked with boards based on the reference design. Supposedly the newer cards actually have differences in the core, so the hacks don't work as often anymore, but it still has happened.
"but a mainstream, commercial-grade bluetooth TCP/IP router"
Have you even bothered to hit google?
Searching for Bluetooth AP gave me this Belkin and this Axis, both of which are commercially available, and the Axis even supports SNMP and RADIUS for enterprise installations.
I think Thinkgeek used to sell both a BT LAN AP and a cordless phone with a BT modem.
Bluetooth devices are out there in larger quantities than people assume.
PCI-X and SATA are more serial than parallel.

This post made from a cellular connection.

God damn at least someone here gets it!

Rainbow Six 3 uses it for God Mode
$2500, almost 7 days and still no bids...

You mean something like
this?

Look at the usual sources for modchips and other similar gear. Not gonna link directly to any of them to prevent a micro-slashdotting. GIYF
I also recall seeing this recently, but I think it was over at k5, not here.

I've been liking T-Mo.

Which is exactly why Apple's PDF rendering is so fast. The OS X team contains a large part of the NeXT OS team.

Um... the generic display drivers that ship on the 2K3 disk work fine. You don't need 3D on a server.
They do make something like this...
Here's one for a specific Nikon camera...
I remember seeing one that plugged in to a CF slot and looked like a regular flash card to the camera, bugt I can't find it now.

PCI has a low power always-on line typically used for Wake-on-LAN or Wake-on-ring systems.
That's why you may notice some NICs keep a link light on even with the system off.
I'd assume that the card uses this.
re-read the post dumbshit. "MS hadn't released a wireless optical YET"
meaning that at the time he purchased the mouse, that MS that you linked to WASN'T OUT YET!

Done
wow.....
glad i finished my pepsi a few minutes ago otherwise it would be all over my keyboard
"hope autopr0n gets back up (pun very much intended) soon; it's(was) the shit"
:(

I miss autopr0n
OK, I'm bored and have some invites, so first two responses get them.
It's all a matter of how often you use them, just like anything else.
I remember the ICQ #s of myself and one of my friends who joined about the same time as I re-joined. I can rarely remember my own phone number.
