Hereditary mental illness and abusive caregivers outside the home are both very uncommon things. And if you don't know who your child has contact with and verify that they're safe to be around, then you did fuck up as a parent. This victim mentality is what's causing people to not take responsibility for themselves. Not to mention that everyone has shit to deal with, in all kinds of different forms... it doesn't mean you deserve something because of it.
I'm happy you're helping them out, but her dad needs to grow a pair. My aunt and uncle have the same problem... they just want to be their kid's friend, and they never wanted to let them be unhappy. You should NEVER be terrified of your kids, unless they have some serious mental issues, and in that case, they need to be in a hospital or seriously evaluated. Not to mention that he now has a case history of her lying to get her way (and you as a witness)... that has to go a long way to protecting them the next time she "acts up".
Your kids will only go behind your back if they only followed the rules out of fear of you, rather than respect for you. Be an example, be true to your word EVERY TIME, and your kids will respect you.
Huh. My fiancee makes a pretty good living, and she still thinks that she'd rather be a stay-at-home mom than work, at least while the kids are in grade school. Something about more "well-rounded" kids, having them have actual parental interaction or something like that.
Just because YOU don't have kids doesn't mean you won't have contact with them. And it takes a village to raise a child properly. I think we've forgotten that as a culture here in the US of A.
So what if Apple does both? "Name me one pda where the OS has Windows in the name! Ha! That proves my point!" which is to say, there was none at all. So what if Microsoft chooses to shoddily support 3rd party hardware? Apple supports it's own hardware, and either way, the company that created the software directly supplies the updates, same as with WinCE (or Windows Mobile, or whatever they've rebranded it to now).
I doubt that. The higher-ticket phones typically have the higher commission and "spiff" points, which is where Windows Mobile lives. They don't put WM in the $100 phones, they put it in the $300+ phones. And if the sales "droid" hates getting complaints about high-ticket items like that, you might think that there might, just might be something to it. I know I would.
The Q is barely ok. My fiancee regularly has to reload hers because changing the options doesn't work, or something hoses the system, it spontaneously reboots, whatever. So does her brother. And every single other person I've talked to that owns a Q. Some of them deal with it, just like they dealt with Windows bluescreening back in the day. But it shouldn't EVER do it, and it's even more imperative that it not happen on a phone, in an embedded application. I'm happy with my BlackBerry, and I suggest that anyone looking at a business-level phone look into one. An iPhone is great if you don't care about being locked into AT&T and don't need push email.
Do you actually read Slashdot? 90% of engineering types are apparently functionally illiterate, judging from the grammar and spelling atrocities that abound.
I had no idea it was so expensive... well, maybe it is. Assuming you're living in a country where the median income is $1000/yr.
Record companies front musicians money they don't need if they had talent and drive, and can't pay back even if they do. Besides, how many bands play the super bowl halftime show? You think Radiohead (if they were as universally appealing as say, the Rolling Stones) couldn't just do that themselves with an agent with the proper connections, or even just a "We're played 100 times a day in every major radio market, you wanna talk to us about doing the halftime show?" letter? The NFL has no hard ties to the RIAA group of companies... they'll go with whoever will sell the most tickets.
Record companies are going to die a slow death, unless they position themselves as promoters, and stop trying to fuck over the talent. They have lost their barrel to bend people over... they still have bargaining chips, but now they have to come to the table fairly, just like everyone else.
I just looked into the book in your link... the moron can't even denigrate Italians with correct spelling (they ain't "whops"), the second page can't figure out the correct homonym of "flair" to use (hint: it's not "flare") along with exceptionally ham-fisted attempts at "shocking" dialogue and all the most popular black-helicopter conspiracy theories (the gummint did 9/11! We faked the moon landings!), yet this is somehow supposed to be a serious book of some sort? And that's all just in the first two pages? Just because Amazon doesn't want to sell (or can't financially justify stocking) a piece of shit attempt at "literature" (I use that word as loosely as possible) doesn't mean that the book has been banned. Your other points have some merit, but that link was a pretty bad example to use as something being trampled on. Maybe try pointing out something worth using for more than as toilet paper as an example next time?
Is also flawlessly secure. Pretty useless though, just like Qmail. He won't fix bugs or mis-features in the software, which means that it's a perfectly secure, useless bit of software unless you only want to do something trivial with it. Do anything more, and you have to start patching it manually, which makes Postfix and it's CERT advisories a much better option than an unvalidated, third-party patch conglomeration tacked on to Qmail.
Yeah... my fiancee used to work for one of the largest hosted Exchange providers in the world. Their exchange servers were a constant bane, and needed constant surveillance and maintenance, especially compared to their UNIX hosted offerings. Just because it DOES happen doesn't mean that large Windows-based server deployments are a good thing.
That means you've earned your sig ;)
If refill ink wasn't forced to fly under the radar so much, perhaps it would have better product?
Re-solder the connector on, put a bit of epoxy around it, and it'll hold much better. The board will come apart before the connector does :)
*Fewer commas. If you're going to correct someone's grammar, at least do it correctly yourself ;)

You can set Plain Old Text to be default in your user preferences. That's how I have mine set, so I know it's possible and even works reliably ;)
See?

Check out this link about Unskilled and Unaware. It's really interesting, and has some numbers and research to back up your points :)
Master Chief is an illiterate version of Mr. T?!!@#! Oh man, I think we're in trouble...
2 years? What, are you married to an elephant? ;)
Damnit... I knew my fiancee was a figment of my imagination... she was too good to be true ;)

I'm a fan of Blackberry's system (I love my 8800). It seems to be quite stable, and just works from my experience. Just a data point ;)

Dude, dogs were first. Those astronauts better be prepared to sniff some ass...

Whoop-de-fuck. I'll bet one of your friend's mom's did. Either way, alcohol is in no way inaccessible to the large majority of people.
main() {
printf("hello, world");
}
