Really? I'm gonna buy another PS2 when mine conks out. I may just buy one now to keep on-hand for that eventuality.
But I'm DEFINITELY gonna buy a Wii. It's got a lot more to offer to people who aren't "hardcore" gamers, who just want to have fun.
Not only that, but it's helping to redistribute the console more evenly, because some places have more supply than demand, even though most places are the opposite. It's just taking advantage of inequities in the market as it currently is, and will fall off as "legitimate" supply ramps up.
You're a statistical anomaly;) We aren't in the target demographic, but there are still a lot of twenty-something's that have real jobs and lives that want something fun to play when everyone gets together. Better than just drinking and drawing on the face of whoever passes out first (which still has it's place)
Almost 4 hours a day... yeah, that's definitely not Wii's target demographic. It's something fun to do together for people with families and friends of varied ages and skill levels, and with limited amounts of time. Some of us have kids, have to cook food, do all kinds of other things than stare at a screen for 4 hours a night after staring at one for over 8 hours during the day.
Except... the Wii is made to work with the DS, so they're complementary products. Some people only have the DS, some only have the Wii, and some, if not quite a few, people will get both, so that they can get the features that appear when you have both, such as downloadable mini-games and such for the DS that affect the games on the Wii, or whatever.
Because a lot of history teachers want you to regurgitate facts, rather than learn history and be able to understand it. I love history, I hated my history classes.
I believe that the touchpad drivers will let you detect one, two and three finger taps of the touchpad, and use those as left, middle and right mouse clicks. I know that I do that with my current Synaptics touchpad on my Compal laptop, and it's not that difficult to learn to use.
Ummm... NT4 had a Win 9x-like interface. It just had crappy graphical and end-user application support. Windows 2000 remedied a lot of that, with better OpenGL and so on, and actually having DirectX.
They probably mean that they'll be running 50% faster than the chips that Intel will have out at the same time (ie, the Penryn cores I believe). At least, that's my take on it.
Problem being that hemp grows ANYWHERE, under virtually any conditions. It's a weed. They couldn't monopolize the market like people did on tobacco, which is a notoriously finicky crop.
Wrong way around, kiddo. Any rights not specifically allowed to the states go to the individual, and any rights not specifically allowed to the feds go to the states. The Federal Government should have MINIMAL power, not maximal. Check your US Constitution again.
The notebook I bought last September has a TPM v1.2 chip in it... and I know many current other notebooks do. But TPM is primarily useful in the mobile space, anyway, not on the desktop space where most people keep their machines reasonably physically secure.
I once had a computer science grad student in a 400/500 level graphics class with me (I was an undergrad), we were doing a fractal displaying type program. She was having trouble with her program, so I was helping here. There were basically two choices with how to make the display: either a recursive system, or a loop. When I said this too her, she responded, and I quote "I'm going to do the loop, because I don't trust recursion".
Now, I'm not saying all women in computer science are like that by any means. I knew many who were better at the theory than I was, and some who were better programmers. But I don't think this specific girl would have had a CS undergrad degree if she didn't have breasts, which is a failure of the system in trying to make it "more equal".
Except that experimental physicists need to be damn good engineers to build their devices. All physics students that go to the Colorado School of Mines are required to pass a machine lab course, building things such as screw clamps, presses, anodizing aluminum, etc. Otherwise, they'd just be theoretical physicists, which is analogous to a computation theory course, which doesn't need the programming skills.
But if you get a Computer Science degree, you damn well better be able to program a computer. You may not be able to whip out an office suite in a fortnight, but you should be able to make your ideas work well on a computer.
There's no identified genetic reason why there should be more black professional sports players, either, but that doesn't prevent it from happening. Just because we haven't identified it doesn't mean there's not another reason for a preference or a skill.
If you lower the requirements for being a fireman so that more women will join, that doesn't make everyone safer. If you change a CS program to not require you to be able to proficiently apply your science, then you're gutting the reason for the program to exist. The only thing that needs changed is the "club" type atmosphere, where women will feel out of place socially. The rest will come if someone enjoys the science enough.
And I have a Compal HGL-30 that has all the Fn buttons working (brightness, play/pause/stop, volume) right out of the box with Kubuntu 7.10 beta. It has trouble hibernating, but I think that's because of the NVIDIA drivers. I've never tried to suspend, though, as it boots and shuts down quickly enough that I don't need to worry about it. Only thing that doesn't have native drivers as far as I know is the USB-based webcam and the USB-based fingerprint reader, both of which are being worked on, and are pretty new hardware. Highly recommended hardware for Linux.
Can I come work for you? I doubt you're going to explicitly tell me not to embezzle money or steal from the till, which would mean that it's fair game under your system. The government is supposed to do what people tell them to, but they are in a leadership position, which means that they should also be an example of the types of people we want leading us. Morals are VERY important. They aren't incidental. Because morals mean they will do what is right, rather than what gives them the most advantage.

Apparently, that's what's wrong with reading skills in the rest of the world... or at least in the GPP's country ;)

A Arkansan. You still have too many teeth and too few guns and broken pickup trucks, though.

How the hell is this insightful? It's even a blatant lie. Microsoft WAS convicted, even if they weren't punished: http://www.aaxnet.com/editor/edit019.html
Just a completely anecdotal story:

Only until someone got close... splash damage is a bitch... I know! Let's outlaw weapons without splash damage!

;) I've never used it, I just know about it.
Might be worth a look for you at least

Dude. If you have nothing better to do than fuck with your karma on Slashdot, move out of your mom's basement and find a real job.

You're a moron.
