But it would allow parents, without the whole ethical approach to genetically 'chosing' traits, to recieve and raise a child which is, in every respect, genetically theirs. Surely there has to be some way to duplicate the process that randomly choses how to mix genes in ordinary births?
This is not possible in adoptions.
The thing is, (sadly or naturally depending on your view on it) that even if PE gets 'fixed', which might take a while (It has definitely improved during the 11 months I've been testing it, but still a long way away. The last patch sort of screwed everything up again. People got fired after that.) the concept doesn't work when you put in players in the equation.
The players want this; We want to earn money, or at least play for free, otherwise there is no point. The only way to enjoy the game is if you make money on it. A LOT of people think like this. And it won't hold.
The developers think like this; Since people spend so much time and money on other games, why not just build the money spending aspect into the game? So, if people can put in as much money as they want, they WILL put in as much money as they want. And trust me, people DO spend more than they should.
Not to say you can't make money. Sure you can, if you are smart, you got a close ground of friends that can help you, and you play for the long run. I've made, so far, over 300$. That's not a lot, but in the end, it means free gaming. I could work for a week or two, and make more on it.
But it's the aspect of having an economy which doesn't have an insane inflation, and where things REALLY matter, that drags me into it, not the "I can quit my job if I just play enough".
Well, something similar to this is in development for use in trains; Basically you use strong magnets to make the train float, and then you just push it along.
If you make shoes of this, though, I think you'd have a bit of a hard time standing up.
Mmm, this would not be a problem if there were just one type of mat (either one manufacturer or one standard). However, since various electronical tools are bound to use different voltage and such, you would need different add-ons for them. Or you would have to change some settings on the mat. And people are bound to mess up here.
The whole point with standards is to remove the need to change anything in the first place, so don't be *too* hopefull that you don't have to bother about things like voltage even with this thing.
As far as I figured it out, the company that allows the sites to be hosted on their servers will be forced to remove them. They *should* be know, or be able to find out, what content their websites has.
You forgot adding automatic and un-disableable (is that even a word?) redialing if (when) the connection is broken. I mean, it's a money making machine! Literally.
Maybe we could set up a 'payment' system similar to the one in Mah-Jong (sp?). Ie, the difference in points/karma/whatnot between different people dictates how much they should pay to each other.
I guess it technically would be the same as with identical twins; If you clone yourself, it wouldn't be YOU. It would just be someone with the same genetical traits.
So yes, it would be incest. But not more so than with a 'normal' brother/sister.
Actually, you can have 8 characters in total (per account) if you have them on different servers. Each character has been said (based on amount of skill points available) to be able to master up to three sepparate 'routes'. You can also, at any time, unlearn one route and start practicing on another one.
This mean that you can have 24 routes practiced/mastered (I guess time is a factor here) at any one time, and if you want, change any of those to other ones at any other time.
You just won't be able to pass items between your various characters.
Well, this falls on the extremely minor point that shoes don't degrade. At all. You can even jump into an acid pool without any damage to your shoes/boots. The fact that you die in a couple of seconds is just a minor inconvinience, and doesn't present any actual costs.
There are walking animations, and there has always been. The trouble I think you refered to was that it wasn't properly sent out to other players. You could check in third person view, and you've always seen a walking/running/swimming/standing animation there.
Nowadays (read, the last half year or so) you see people walking around just fine.
Items only decay by use. They have a condition bar that decrease slowly each time you use the weapon/tool/whatnot. So if you leave the game for half a year, you will have the same items, in the same condition, when you return.
I think it's a bit like stocks. You only pay tax when you make a profit with real cash.
So if you deposit 100$, and a few months later withdraw 200$, you are liable to pay tax for an income of 100$. What you do ingame isn't possible to tax.
Seing as PKing isn't even available, there things you can make money on are rather similar to other games out there.
Hunting monsters/robots/mutants, mining for metals, oil and similar, and crafting pistols and armour. Trading is also a way to make money, but that relies on having contacts.
My computer password is: - All of the above

105% CPU use? Damn, that's a mighty fine piece of hardware you got there.
You just got to love how all internet trafic of today is measured in movies. ;)

Actually, a show where they check out what actually happens if you fall for it would be nice. Nice as in; I would laugh at some of the suckers. ;)

Sorry, my bad. There are 20 servers planned (Check the faq, entry 1.18). Just replace 8 with 20, and 24 with 60.
No, everyone has the possibilities to chose up to 8(!) characters. Imagine what you can do with that. If you see me ingame, my name will be 'HNUIAPCE'

One of the main points is that there is no montly fee, or sign up fee, at all.

Part of the thing is that you don't pay for the actual game. Only for the items. This in practice means you do pay to play, but only once.
