I think that the parent to your comment is refering to this:
although it would be helpful if you skimmed the list of bugs before submitting new ones so we don't have 300 of you tell us that your user info page has other people's comments listed on it again
I think that there are about as many "slashdot is slashdotted" posts, so yeah - Im essentially agreeing with your post, just clarifying.
As an aside, I think that saying "banjo is plucked" has a better ring to it
I too carry a shoulder pack, by Burton (not the exact bag but similar) - the Kelty didn't have the "size for the buck" factor that I needed. I got a larger bag because I live in Las Vegas and drive a Jeep and don't like leaving anything of value in my car with the top off. It has room for my CD binder, my day timer (sorry, no palm for this geek - I prefer the old fashioned method that doesn't need to be backed up) it has a cell phone pocket on teh shoulder strap perfect for 99% of the phones out there (and water resistant too !!) plus a pouch that is perfect for me to carry my insulin (yuppers, a diabetic geek). The front pocket is perfect sized for my CD/MP3 plater. It even has a pocket on the side that is perfect size for the 1 Litre coke bottles (Diet of course;). This bag goes where ever I go and doesn't look clunky and is quite comfortable for a day of walking on the Las Vegas Strip. Ok, Im done advertising.
Interesting comment. I'd like to further extend your comments by saying that this is yet another attempt by the government to institutionalize morals. First it is the school taking over the role of disciplinarian and slowly withering away the ability of the family to maintain itself. Now it is controlled content.
There are many motives withing the fed to try and stop something of this nature.
They can implement morals by restricting what the people can have access too.
They can control content.
They can please their customers....Im sorry did I say "customers", I meant to say they can please Big Business by shutting down anything that may potentially tap their revenue stream.
Im tired of the people calling the Slashdot Crowd a bunch of whiners when we don't get our way. We are people who diagree with popular opinion and we are people who respect and value our freedom. I think that it is such a phony argument to say that this whole file sharing witch hunt is about one group wanting to control files while the other group wants the freedom to "steal" them. It is about one group wanting to maintain control and another group wanting to take control back and give it to the people. It's just too bad that the people who matter in this situation are the ones who share the popular opinion that the people can't handle their freedom and must be protected from it.
I am a programmer and I have been studying Kempo for about a year and a half now. I started because there were a couple of guys at my last job who studied and it sounded like fun. It has really whipped my ass into shape, and has been a great experience at the same time. For those of you who do like to leave the house and play some REAL fighting games, I highly recommend it.
Plus, chicks always ask about scars and bruises. I cant imagine a game so intense that it leaves you with injuries. --------
ahem.... THC is not a dangerous drug nor is MDMA (used to be perscribed by marriage ecounselers). The dangers of MDMA include dancing like the white boy you are while thinking you look cool (more so than alcohol), thinking that you are popular, and completely depleating your seretonin levels for the next two weeks so that you feel like a blathering idiot.
Stop trying to say that the drugs your mommie told you are illegal are bad for you. --------

no, that's linux. And according to Microsoft that is a cancer, not a fungus.

I personally have trouble with the cancerous analogy that Ballmer uses. Viral is more accurate, but still somwhat lacking in my eyes. To me the GPL is more reflective of a gene or a meme if you will. It truly is infectious, but only if you let it infect you. It is a selectable infection. Nobody makes you use the GPL, you choose to use the GPL and pass on its traits, much like genes. Most people aren't FORCED into passing on their genes, it is typically a situation where there is a meeting between two people and they decide (not necessarily consciously) to pass their genes on through a child.
Meme theory is very similar. People talk, discuss ideas/beliefs/thoughts and pass them on. The ideas that people share with you tend to infect you if you agree with them or they are potent enough to penetrate any kind of preconceived idea that you may have.
To me this is a more accurate description of how the GPL works. Cancer is something that happens and you don't plan on it. Virii are able to penetrate you if you want them to or not. The GPL is more genetic if you are going to use a biological analogy. --------

One other problem that I had with this specific line is that Mundie also makes it sound like these are the only two options for software developers. Apparently sharing your ideas with others didn't occur to him. To some this may fall under the category of relinquishing your IP, but to relinquish http://www.dictionary.com/cgi-bin/dict.pl?term=rel inquish for the link paranoid) something implies that you give up all control. If you think that you have to relinquish your IP just to share it with others, ask Linus what he thinks about relenquishing his IP. --------

This isn't the most recent quote, but I love this. It is what I think of everytime someone talks about video game violence.
"Claiming that video-games affects kids is ridiculous. If that was the point, then everyone who played Pac-man in the late 80s would be running around a dark room eating pills to monotonous music." - Swedish culture-journalist Staffan Blomsjø in newspaper Aftonbladet -

GRRRRR.... you read my mind my friend, and had you logged in I would have showered you with all five of the moderation points that I have right now. People here are getting upset about a monkey who sits in a booth and plays the CDs that someone above them tells them too. Give me a DJ who is sent to educate a crowd and lift them up and play a set of music that the target audience hasn't heard, hasn't requested and connot predict.
Give me Digweed and his brooding house. Give me Kimball Collins and his uplifting trance. Give me DJ Rap and her gorgeous breasts...I mean bumpin jungle vibe. Give me Robert Oleyseck and his massive ability to put together 20 records in 15 minutes and create a tune of his own out of the fruits of others labors....keep you canned music and keep it off the internet. To me this union labor dispute is no big loss to me. --------

Yet another theory is that Cain and Abel represent the split of modern agricultural man from the hunter-gather man. Abel was the gatherer and Cain killed him, much like man used to be a gathering animal who then learned how to harvest and use the land strictly for themselves by means of agriculture, effectively killing off the gathering man's land.

yes he did, but at least when the masses shouted "foul" slashdot fessed up to it, went out and tried to track down as many of the posters as they could, and tried to get their permission in re-printing the posts.
As far as payment...I don't even see how this is relevant. Be happier that your voice is being heard and be less concerned about whether your voice is making you money or not. If you post on Slashdot expecting to get rewarded, let alone paid, then you are in for a surprise. --------
