I too carry a shoulder pack, by Burton (not the exact bag but similar) - the Kelty didn't have the "size for the buck" factor that I needed. I got a larger bag because I live in Las Vegas and drive a Jeep and don't like leaving anything of value in my car with the top off. It has room for my CD binder, my day timer (sorry, no palm for this geek - I prefer the old fashioned method that doesn't need to be backed up) it has a cell phone pocket on teh shoulder strap perfect for 99% of the phones out there (and water resistant too !!) plus a pouch that is perfect for me to carry my insulin (yuppers, a diabetic geek). The front pocket is perfect sized for my CD/MP3 plater. It even has a pocket on the side that is perfect size for the 1 Litre coke bottles (Diet of course ;). This bag goes where ever I go and doesn't look clunky and is quite comfortable for a day of walking on the Las Vegas Strip. Ok, Im done advertising.

Interesting comment. I'd like to further extend your comments by saying that this is yet another attempt by the government to institutionalize morals. First it is the school taking over the role of disciplinarian and slowly withering away the ability of the family to maintain itself. Now it is controlled content.

There are many motives withing the fed to try and stop something of this nature.
    • They can implement morals by restricting what the people can have access too.
    • They can control content.
    • They can please their customers....Im sorry did I say "customers", I meant to say they can please Big Business by shutting down anything that may potentially tap their revenue stream.
Im tired of the people calling the Slashdot Crowd a bunch of whiners when we don't get our way. We are people who diagree with popular opinion and we are people who respect and value our freedom. I think that it is such a phony argument to say that this whole file sharing witch hunt is about one group wanting to control files while the other group wants the freedom to "steal" them. It is about one group wanting to maintain control and another group wanting to take control back and give it to the people. It's just too bad that the people who matter in this situation are the ones who share the popular opinion that the people can't handle their freedom and must be protected from it.

I'll shut up now, thank you.

  11. Re:GPL vs LGPL on Ballmer Calls Linux "A Cancer" · · Score: 1

I personally have trouble with the cancerous analogy that Ballmer uses. Viral is more accurate, but still somwhat lacking in my eyes. To me the GPL is more reflective of a gene or a meme if you will. It truly is infectious, but only if you let it infect you. It is a selectable infection. Nobody makes you use the GPL, you choose to use the GPL and pass on its traits, much like genes. Most people aren't FORCED into passing on their genes, it is typically a situation where there is a meeting between two people and they decide (not necessarily consciously) to pass their genes on through a child.

Meme theory is very similar. People talk, discuss ideas/beliefs/thoughts and pass them on. The ideas that people share with you tend to infect you if you agree with them or they are potent enough to penetrate any kind of preconceived idea that you may have.

To me this is a more accurate description of how the GPL works. Cancer is something that happens and you don't plan on it. Virii are able to penetrate you if you want them to or not. The GPL is more genetic if you are going to use a biological analogy.
