Please could somebody let my boss know. Pretty please.
It could be Ice now, and thats why there appear to be craters. It could also possibly be below the surface of a shallow coastline. Or it could simple be debris in the atmosphere. Lots of possibilities:)
I think I made a mistake. Apparantly, Steam *does* still use the old central server for its updates. There was news that Bram Cohen had been contracted by Valve, and he was working on it, I thought it had changed over to the p2p distribution, but obviously not. Another reply to my original post gives the correct version of it (WoW).
Occasionally Windows screws itself up because it tries to store information about too many folders. I generally close down all windows, delete the 2 keys and logoff/on again. When it returns, I open my computer, get the settings just right (remove grouping, details, widen columns). I then go into folder options and do all the little bits before clicking apply and then "Apply to all folders".
seems to get rid. omg how bad does that sound. ain't windows shite!
If you have a REALLY crap graphics card, Windows longhorn will automatically switch to text adventure mode.
You have opened a window. Above you you see the Titlebar, it has a Close button. There is lots of text on the window, looking closely, it appears to say 'slashdot'.
That doesn't sound too bad actually rocks and debris can be flung for miles after impacts, it could have splintered off at the main large impact, and it looks like it could have bounced and rolled losing energy in much the same way as the airbags worked.
Its likely been there a good number of years, if the images of the heatshield are to be taken as a guide.
They have been lying on the surface for about a year now, and have only superficial sand/dust coverings, the impact point is still visible. Look here
FBI wants a computer system where the officer can sit down at terminal with donut in hand, type in the name of the crime, and get a popup list of all the folks guilty of that crime.
Seems like a very measured response to a difficult situation. It gives accurate detailed information in a concise manner. It would be nice if all organisations would speak so clearly.
What would you do if you caught somebody doing something to your car?
Could you have THEM arrested for tampering? After all, its not going to be a uniformed officer sneaking this device under the wheel arch or wherever its needed. Could you "politely" tell this car robber where to go?

WMV9 is the one that has the nice "feature" where it will open up a browser window and load an arbitary page from the web simply by trying to view a movie.
You need to (from reputable companies) purchase a license for that one media file before it can be played, the web page displayed should be a purchase/more info page for the artist.
Adware spreading virus infections have noticed this now.
Your absolutely right. The big companies could license DRM infested codec keys and codecs from MS. When I make changes to linux and distribute that code, I would not be licensed to give the MS codecs with it. The executable I produce will be different to the licensed version, and I would lose DRM rights.
Only the person at the top of the ladder will win.
Windows xp search is downright broken. It can "sometimes" bring back the file you KNOW is on the drive, and sometimes completely miss it. Note, this is only searching by Filename, with no string parsing at all. MS made lots of areas out of action (windows folder is especially offlimits).
THEN
When you actually switch it to advanced mode, and start to dig in, it kicks you again. You enter a string contained within a file you know is on your computer, and you ask it to search for it. Granted, the old 95/8/2000 search was slow, but that was kindof expected when its searching all files. Windows XP is just as slow, except now it ONLY searches files it has been explicitely told are searchable. By default, win xp will not search for any code files, any web files, documents and all sorts of other files. They released a gunshot fix which made it search "some" filetypes, but even today its still broken, especially with new file types.
It was so bad, I first created a registry patching tool which searched and found all unhandled filetypes, then I gave up entirely and wrote a much better code searcher for myself:)

How do I go about blacklisting American IPs?
Is there a nice range, just like for blocking out spam from eastern countries?
If I'm gonna be sued, I might as well get it from my own country.
All I can say is Spee errrrr Safety Cameras.

Its just like a game intro.
At first it sounds like a heart beat, then it sets off.
Its cool, I almost expected to hear it change gear.

I use Steam :)
I try not to, and have an itchy uncomfortable feeling after playing hl2, but I think thats more life mirroring art than anything else.
The icons thing can be cured in the main.

Wow.

How much like mars does this picture look?
I wonder how much work it would take to get a web controlled robot to drive over there?
Have you ever been to a beach?
The idea is at least plausable.

Bruce Willis is included in the mission.
He is being sent compressed on the mini data CD.
Look here
I'm torn however, whilst this does mean we will survive, does it mean that the MPAA will sue Nasa for unlicensed copyright infringement?
Theres a few good ones.

Unsurprising really, but I wonder if it was one the editors
