Here in Central Canada (Manitoba), Cable and DSL is $39.95-45.95 CDN. Which converted is around $30 or so US. However, if one wanted to sign up, it's approximately $29.99 CDN for the first 6-8 months. I know in the states, Comcast and other providers are offering broadband at $45.95 to 60.95 US for cable internet. Might be why we have a high ratio of broadband customers here in Canada versus in the states.

The two most popular broadband providers in my area are:
    Shaw Cable
    MTS DSL

  5. Re:Not Star Wars, CREATURE WARS !!! on Star Wars Galaxies - Patch Woes? · · Score: 1

I'm not sure if SOE or the devs behind SWG are going to take away creatures, but not all players require pets. I think what would be best is if the pets could/would be attacked using a scout's trapping ability. I also think droid engineers should be able to build single use or multi use droid pets that can counter creatures too. Right now, armor is borked, but Mind pool attacks can be defended if you wear a high resist helm (our PA has tested this, and pre-patch, our master swordmen and TKA's were able to approach eyeshot wielding BH's with ease).

Although I do agree with you that the game hasn't evolved to 'Star Wars' yet (I'd really like for them to setup player vehicles and mounts right now), I think it's still a great *multiplayer* game if you have the right players with you. For example, when we decide to engage, we normally make sure we have at least a few high end combatants and medics/doctors/CM's. We have taken down some ATSTs, and yes sometimes we accept defeat and retreat. I also must agree with you that when WoW comes out, I may migrate as I am a huge fan of Blizzard (despite their issues with BneT, and their Vivendi owners etc.) games.

What a great insightful post. It's too bad you posted anonymously though :/.

Yes, every single character type that I can think of in SWG got hammered by some kind of bug from this patch.

Some of our PA wanted to test our abilities by raiding Theed (only 5 of us (rebels) but our professions were: Squad Leader (not master though), Commando (w/ flamethrower), Creature Handler (w/ 3 pets), Bounty Hunter (master), Pistoleer (master), Riflemen (master)) and Combat Medic (yay me)). I believe most of the other professions got 'nerfed' in that, their output damage was lowered an additional 75% on top of the existing 75% damage reduction. However, my Mind Poison and Health Poison delivery C's were on target and damaged the pools effectively (I was getting DOT (Damage Over time) incaps). They finally fixed some typos on one of the schematics, and I'm not sure if they fixed another schematic that was buggy as I do not have the required resources at the moment.

I do have to agree however that the downtime sucked, but I understand that things can go wrong and I appreciated that in the Development Forum they were at least informing us of the issues (unexpected errors, etc.).

    I agree.

I believe if SOE allowed people to create more than one character per server the number of accounts would not be so high. Most crafters I know have at least another character/account. I cannot afford to have a secondary account so I selected a hybrid character with crafting as part of my component - Combat Medic, which I have just recently acquired Mastery in.

I'm sure paintball can at least attempt if not closely match the gameplay in CS. The Airsoft stuff look interesting though, thanks for the links! :)

You're absolutely right! I guess I'm pretty ignorant too :/

The problem is that I never hear about the Bloc Québécois cuz they don't have any seats other than in Quebec and most of their literature is in French which I can't read very well (although BabelFish can sorta translate, I can't really trust the translating).

I think right now the reason why the Liberals are in power is because they're the lesser evil compared to the rest, but that's my two cents.

I'm Canadian, and I know there are lot of Canadians who also share the same ignorance/lack of information on how our Canadian government works but I hope this helps:

The Canadian Alliance is the "Opposition party" or the group of elected individuals in our House of Commons (sorta like the House of Representatives in the states). The difference in our elected officials is that we have more than just two large parties. There's the Liberal Party of Canada, NDP, PC Party of Canada and other parties like the Green Party, The Communist party, etc. (I don't have their URLs, but I'm sure google would help)

To better understand Canadian government, check this out: Structure of the Government of Canada

The Minister of Canadian Heritage is this person named Sheila Copps who is in charge of keeping Canadian Culture 'Canadian'. A lot of people don't like what she does as a lot of times it removes freedoms from the people of Canada and makes things more expensive (our taxes pay for her position and her policies/ideas).

To answer your actual question: Is this one individual overruling a lobbying type group or a governmental group?
The bill became law despite the Canadian Alliance fighting against it.
