go URPMI. This is the one reason that I still stick with mandrake over suse. URPMI is great. Add a little plf to the mix, and your all set. I get 95% of what I need via urpmi.
# urpmi mplayer
# urpmi freevo
DONE!!!!
updates
# urpmi.update -a
# urpmi --auto-select
Other then the x.org thing, doesn't look any different then my 10 distro.
Never been a big fan of apt-get for rpm based disto's. I've had a couple of bad sources that have really screwed up my system.
To configure urpmi, I go to http://easyurpmi.zarb.org, select my distro, choose my source/updates and I don't touch my cd's for software again.
From what I've heard, SUSE may be going the way of urpmi soon. They've got beta's out there and source directories.
Screw, powerpoint. Openoffice/Staroffice is fine with impress. Better, because it exports to PDF.
My big point is with IBM, they still can't even port Lotus Notes to linux. Yes, they have the server ported, but Notes client should have been a priorty.
The point is also still valid that they won't even sell you a laptop or a PC with any version of linux pre-loaded.
With HP, they have it (for the desktop), but it's difficult to find on the website, and they're not any cheaper.
Maybe in a win world, but the drivers for my daughters lil' gforce2 are far more stable then my ati 8500. ATI still has a way to go for linux driver support.

firefox on mandrake 10 with the latest realplayer plugin worked for me.
See, even the do good Batman drives an SUV. I'm going out to get a Hummer tomorrow.

I you code to the standards, then it wouldn't matter what browser is used.
