  1. As a Kiwi...This sucks. on For New Zealanders, No More Phones As Sat-Nav Devices · · Score: 3, Informative

As a New Zealander I cant say that I am very happy with this decision. I think that an exemption must be made for hands free kits for these phones/satnavs. The rest of the new law was banning talking on a cellphone or txting while driving a vehicle, is commendable, but common sense needs to bear with laws like these.

    This law needs amendment.

RoHS? Nowhere in the article does it say that lead free solder is the cause. The 'yellow light' failure rate for the PS3 is less than 0.5%, no different from leaded solder.

What evidence do you have that the failure is caused directly by RoHS compliant manufacturing techniques?

This looks like your standard Straw-Man fallacy.

    No, not quite.

Remeber that mass causes a curvature in spacetime ( General Relativity ), so inside the event horizion, spacetime is curved in on itself so much that light cannot escape, as all possible directions inside the event horizion point towards the center. While a 'calculated' escape velocity inside the event horizion may turn out to be a speed higher than lightspeed, no matter can ever reach that speed.

As far as we can tell, gravity moves at the speed of light, so therefore gravitational waves will have a speed limit of lightspeed.

Well, when your grid ( and im assuming the US one ) is running right to its limits, something needs to be done. But you gain from less losses, and increased reliability...how much did the last major grid outage cost you, as a country?

If it can be worked out, and produce proper "consumer friendly" replacements to currently used plastics, then its nothing but a win-win situation. No extra CO2 is being released into the atmosphere, compared to plastic, whatever its eventual fate.

On a side note, people here comment that trees rotting releases CO2 into the atmosphere..while true on a small level, most of it ends locked up into biomass...and at geological timescales, into oil...
