I couldn't agree more. I don't mind paying an initial premium if they last, bu tthey don't. My experience is I am having 20% failure rate within the first 6 months. I am a light user, on/off cycle is minumum, bulbs are not within enclosures, etc. It is less expensive for me to remain with incandescant bulbs as long as the failure rates are still high on CFL. Any energy savings is way offset by early replacement of the CFLs.

You do have to get implied permission to enter the mall. I imagine there are some fine print on the doors etc, but you do have to follow their rules. The only method they can enforce their rules is to ask you to leave their "private" property. The police will not enforce rules that a proprty owner sets out, but the police will enforce the property owner asking you to leavebeicse you woudl not play by their rules.

The same rules apply when enering a Best Buy/Fry's type store that asks to look in your shopping bag. This is an internal policy which you do not have to obey, but they are entitled to ask you to leave their store if you do not want to play by their rules.

The only recourse anyone realy has it not to frequent these establishments.

Just carding for underage people in bars is tough enough trying to decode every license outside your loca state. Each state still controls who owns the ID number, the feds need to be able to query the state in regards to confirming that states ID number, but that is no different than today.

I do not see where it is a national ID, what I see is where each state will have to have a standard "design" for their ID, typically a drivers license. In Illinois we already have the new style and it is tied to the state's Driver's License number. I understand why it needs to be a standard, little Suzie sales clerk may be able to spot a forged drivers license from Illinois, but would have no way to know if a drivers license from Utah was real or not if it was not standardized somehow. It is not a national ID number!!!

I have not touched COBOL for 15 years, nver used PL/I and I am seing a increase of students coming out of college wanting to start back in the Mainframe arena. I am seeing some of the mindset of Mainframes being archaic finally getting past what the Windows/UNIX "trade" rags have been preaching. I concede the fact it is easy for someone to "Play" on a Windows/UNIX machine in their home as most people don't have a Mainframe in their bsmt. Intersting thing I have seen over the last few years, the physical size of the mainframes are now smaller than the Unix/Windows machines and use less environmentals ... funny how that has come around.
