If the GUI could match the sheer attractivness of Tiger or Vista, there would be many more converts. Although it is billed as "an intuitive and attractive desktop for end-users" on GNOME's website, it still has a way to go. Say what you will about the other named OSes, but real progress is being made on the GUI front, and I'm afraid that GNOME is falling behind.
"If you actually look at the graph, you'll see that the situation was significantly better when Clinton was president than now that Bush is in office."
How can you tell that the situation is better or worse from the provided data? If you read the first posts, you will notice that this data doesn't really mean very much. These posts haven't been modded flamebait for attacking Bush, they've been modded down for not making sense!
Imagine how much more pleasant campaign season would be if political ads were prohibited from mentioning the competition? No more negative ads, no more mudslinging, a much improved s/n ratio.
That sounds a lot like some third party ads from last year's elections. If memory serves me right, those were some of the most radical.
Anyway, I wonder why employees of Geico were searching their own company's name on Google.
I am writing this from my summer internship at a pharmaceutical company. I write html for an internal employee portal and I prepare reports of possibly forged doctor signatures.
There are some great opportunities outside of tech. companies.
If they had used say msn search (god forbid) then google would have nothing to say.
If CNet had used Yahoo! or MSN, the article would have become utterly pointless. Also, I think that Google would have followed the same course of action regardless of the information provider.

I think/. already posted a story about the United States wanting to take control of certain key areas in space. Look where all of this "international cooporation" has gotten man's aspirations to go to space; nowhere! Compare this to the US v. USSR space race.
I think that the US military should have the ability to wage war in space, though I doubt it will happen in this generation.

Because of PayPal's issues, I use money orders for online auctions. They are cheap and easy to get, and you can avoid PayPal.

DSL services are already monopolies in many areas, partially due to the significant infrastructure needed to roll out the service.
Studios use a lot of clusters, which are much better (in several ways) on Linux than on Windows.
