Darn, I'm going to have to call you out on that one (even though I just as much the Linux/OSS fan boy as the next). First off being tied to a platform isn't exactly a death sentence.
We've been running MS SQL (2000/2005) for 7-8 years without a hiccup (pretty competent performance monitoring tools too). I'd have to say it's one of the products MS got right.

Like Olympics '08? Maybe sport competition isn't your game, (it's not really mine either), but I felt truly shafted when I couldn't view the videos on the Olympics' site this year on my Linux box.

So many people seem to leave out that Obama is half African American and half Caucasian. He is truly multi-racial and represents the "average" American more than the past 43 presidents. Go Obama!

Not to mention that it's pretty straight forward to *totally* customize the "what's playing" screen to your exact liking (I.e., what info to show and the visual look down to the pixel).
RockBox is just awesome. It blows chunks over the firmware provided on my Sansa 250.

I was in China in 2002 and stopped in a big name electronics store in Beijing. I (being an unabashed Linux/OSS fan boy) went around to about ~20 desktop computers they had for sale and noticed that approx. half were running Linux of which 80% were Red Flag Linux; the rest were Red Hat IIRC.

There's nothing environmentally friendly about the production and use of ANY vehicle. I think "environmentally less-destructive" may be more appropriate way to phrase this.

Sounds like the current cable companies can't handle the change as they're (understandably) very entrenched with their current systems/infrastructure. Time for a new 'a la carte' only provider to show up and serve people (like me) who only want a couple networks. I'm probably the only home owner I know that doesn't have cable TV because we just don't watch enough TV to justify an extra $50/mo. to get the couple channels we want (Sundance is all I really am interested in).
> In some cases, as with Ridley Scott's sci-fi classic Blade Runner, the adaptations are loose to say the least.
You want loose? 'Next' was loose!
