    I had a free trial account with AOL and called to cancel it. They asked why and I told them I wasn't about to pay to get all that advertising stuffed down my throat. They said: "Oh, well just go to keyword 'offers' (or something like that) and you can disable all the advertisements." I told them no thanks. Cancel it.

    Build your filesystem using LVM. Then you can shutdown your services for two seconds while you take a snapshot of the partition(s). Then restart the services and sync the snapshot. I use this method for my company's backup server(s). It works quite well.

    So did the Storm Linux 2000 (Stormix) installer. IIRC, they had created a widget set that worked with ncurses or X. I'm surprised that it didn't catch on. I thought it was quite impressive at the time (circa 2000).

    i personally don't think AI will ever be more intelligent than humans.

    I have to disagree with that statement. Intelligence is primarily made up of life experience(s) and the ability to compare various experience(s) to other event(s). All of this a computer could be programmed to do. However, a computer has a perfect memory which enables it to more accurately compare one experience to another and grow from them. Humans (while arguably having perfect memory) are unable to recall memories perfectly. Which is why I believe computers could become more intelligent than humans. Even having been created by them (us).

    Although a reasonable explanation of how to improve the situation, this would not work because the manufacturer of the machine wants there to be zero accountability. I find it impossible to accept any other explanation for their actions.
