I had a free trial account with AOL and called to cancel it. They asked why and I told them I wasn't about to pay to get all that advertising stuffed down my throat. They said: "Oh, well just go to keyword 'offers' (or something like that) and you can disable all the advertisements." I told them no thanks. Cancel it.
Build your filesystem using LVM. Then you can shutdown your services for two seconds while you take a snapshot of the partition(s). Then restart the services and sync the snapshot. I use this method for my company's backup server(s). It works quite well.
So did the Storm Linux 2000 (Stormix) installer. IIRC, they had created a widget set that worked with ncurses or X. I'm surprised that it didn't catch on. I thought it was quite impressive at the time (circa 2000).
Once we create true Artificially Intelligent Life (read Sentient Being) are we finally going to realize that we are all capable of being (and in fact already are) GOD?
i personally don't think AI will ever be more intelligent than humans.
I have to disagree with that statement. Intelligence is primarily made up of life experience(s) and the ability to compare various experience(s) to other event(s). All of this a computer could be programmed to do. However, a computer has a perfect memory which enables it to more accurately compare one experience to another and grow from them. Humans (while arguably having perfect memory) are unable to recall memories perfectly. Which is why I believe computers could become more intelligent than humans. Even having been created by them (us).
Although a reasonable explanation of how to improve the situation, this would not work because the manufacturer of the machine wants there to be zero accountability. I find it impossible to accept any other explanation for their actions.
...does this story have to do with?
> Can someone explain to me why a fucking hot dog needs 6 grams of added sugar?
So it doesn't taste like the sole of a boot.

Is your friend's name Arcot Ramathorn, by chance?
Googles database covers nearly everything on the internet. They would instantly own the internet!!
Doesn't this proposed law (an many others like it) violate the equal protection clause in the Constitution?
>>Oh, and let's not forget the estimated 300,000 (or more)iraqis currently buried mass graves. [emphasis mine]
I applaud you AC. That was very well stated (from my point of view).
>>Right - a car without an engine is not a car. Same with OS's
Wrong. A car without an engine is a car. Just ask Fred Flintstone.
Stallman created both the GNU Project and the Free Software Foundation. So I'd say he deserves the credit!

I second that statement. Besides, if you want bleeding edge there are plenty of unofficial apt repositories for most anything you could want.
SCO. :/
One problem lies in the fact that the kernel only one of hundreds of GPLed software packages distributed with Caldera Linux.
>>Capitalism: the chance to provide for oneself and one's family in an environment where Man's natural greed is it's own check and balance.
Pass that crack pipe.

You can create a second system within your current one if you've got enough hard drive space.
See:
chroot
User Mode Linux
Hope that helps.

You've never had an office job have you?
Is your company Microsoft? :)

Your money.
I think it is the 512k (kilobytes) of RAM.

I'm sure if you plugged your proxy/filter into MS Office it would happily change the content. :)
