Why do you need a chemistry set to go back to school? If you want to prep for school just get a nice book so you don't have a tough time grunting the equations (and then you'll be able to adequately enjoy the labs).
Nobody said they didn't like it.. we just shouldn't dillude ourselves into buying the commercials (MSN ads for example) into thinking that MS (or other corps) want anything else other then to make money, squash the competition, etc.
If corporations were truely caring and consumer-centric, we wouldn't have gasoline powered vehicles still that leaked poisonous fumes into the atmosphere.
It's funny how usability is often over looked in many products, however once you give someone an interface (whether it be bad or not), and enough people are acustomed to it... it's really hard to change.
The Linux community has some great ideas that come out of it... but to move yer standard MS-gort to a linux machine, you have to throw out all their user experience with a computer OR you have to make Linux look like windows.

Did anyone see, "The Sum of All Fears"? Sure, it seemed to be a movie that tried to profit it off of gort-fears post-911, but in the movie it did show that the worst enemies of people are actually themselves.
