I'm sorry, but Farscape was subject to more plot rehashing than the last 2 Trek series combined.
Everytime I turned it on, I'd be treated to the cast under the influence of something and not trusting each other. I really don't see the appeal of the show.
Are you kidding me? If MS legalizes the mod chips then the Linux folk would completely abandon interest. They're only into it because they think they're thwarting "The Man".
This isn't a troll either-it's the truth. I hope the system succeeds (I think it has, to a large degree) well into the next generation.
As much as people love to hate on MS, they've changed the console world forever. There won't be any more consoles released without a hard drive-it changes everything once you've used it. The same thing applies to the network jack-plug it in and you're off and running.
I know it's been said time and time again, but we play the games. Not the consoles.
Ads are an unfortunate reality in today's "for-profit" web sites. They're paying real editors, web developers & writers to come up with that content (and bandwidth!).
As far as the previews go, they're bound to be positive. The whole purpose of a preview is to find out the feature set & "cool tricks" that a game has to offer. Look at Superman for the Xbox; it looked fantastic in previews. It ended up being a terrible game, and was panned in the reviews because of it. I think you'd have a valid point if the site was heaping praise on terrible games, but they call it squarely 95% of the time.
The forums will degenerate into childish tomfoolery.
SamusGrrl: Metroid Melee Fox rawkz! Halo3l33t: OMG, If you're 12. SamusGrrl: MS Gearbox is big. LOL.
The fact is that IGN is the best source of videogame news out there. Not only do they have an exceedingly well-designed (functional) site, but the editors are generally informed and objective.
It's worth the annual fee that IGN charges its "Insiders", in my opinion. Nowhere else on the web can you find such competent & comprehensive coverage of the video game world.
99% of the gaming sites out there are run by teenage fanboys who balk at competing systems & blindly praise the one they've chosen. While I welcome another gaming site, I'd be surprised if this brings anything new to the table.
I agree with everything you said, Respawn.
The fact is that we play the games, not the systems. Too many people get caught up in exclusivity & system specifications. Every system has quality games that others don't, and there are a lot of solid titles shared among them. Like a lot of people here, I bought a GC so I could play Metroid, and a GBA for the same reason. That doesn't mean I don't still love my Xbox though; the work that went into Gunvalkyrie, Splinter Cell & Rallisport Challenge alone is phenomenal.
The point is that competition in the console world breeds innovation. Whether that's adding a free-floating camera to a 2D franchise (SM64 on N64), introducing analog control (NiGHTS on Saturn) or releasing a controller the size of a very fat man (Steel Battalion on Xbox). None of this would have happened if there weren't competitors out there.
The days of a lone contender innovating on their own are long gone.
Paul Barman is really Prince Paul. Have you ever seen them together?

Who is modding this "Informative"? All he did was call him a jackass and get all defensive.
Everybody needs to relax and enjoy whatever console(s) they have.

I don't think that's fair.

Sheridan College teaches Visual Basic 5.0 as their core programming language. Worst course I ever took.
