And there's a healthy number of us that Tivo shows (or use other DVR's). Since I don't have HDTivo, and I'm rarely there to watch live HDTV, what I get isn't nearly HDTV quality.
There is actually a set of unique searches. Try the page numbers, I have seen it used successfully to browse large chunks of technical books.
I'd love greater accessibility to books for everyone, but as a recent author I am not enthused by the books-for-free approach Google has taken with this one. The author should be the one to make that decision.
Worst hit are reference books. Nobody needs an ENTIRE reference book, we just need relevent reference pages. Now, you can get those without buying the book.
While it is great to feel that the 10,000 pound gorrilla has been pricked, you have to begin to worry about the larger implications this issue has. Foreign governments will begin to weild the power to force companies to do things that fit within their specific way of life.
Remember Yahoo and the case of Nazi memorabilia?
Imagine if countries with more stringent beliefs the Middle East or South East Asia for instance became huge financial juggernauts, they could arm twist companies that want to do business with them to remove materials they find offensive e.g. eBay's adult section.
BTW, if you think this is pointless paranoia, search for what Google did to appease the chinese government in searching about rights abuse.
IMHO, Quicktime is more of a pain in Windows than Media Player which I never use either. Divx player, Vidomi, & GDivx & Winamp run ALL my media files without issue.
In theory, when a need arises in a [free]market the market will rise to meet that need. i.e. when customers show that they do not want to be annoyed by companies they pay, a company will emerge that will be super nice to its customers.
In the meanwhile, customers are screwed. But don't pay any need to the freemarket nonsense, [it is such 'cos I don't see any new Network rising soon especially with the FCC-blessed media company convergence] the companies aren't really out to serve you but to bleed you just enough to make their quarterly numbers.
Screw capitalist freemarketeering. Become a socialist fairmarketer.
There is a perfectly researched business plan behind this [30 typed pages], buoyed especially by the fact that the goal is not to make a huge profit but make a living wage.
I've not seen many donut shops in Haarlem with WiFi, internet access, & arcades though.
I'm 26, working 60 hours a week as an IT consultant and I hate both my life & my job. The whole point of my job is to save enough money to open a little donut shop in Haarlem in Noord Holland. I plan to retire on my 35th birthday, move away from my beloved US and adopt Holland as a new home country.
I'm willing to suffer momentarily for the possibility of early retirement in my donut shop by the sea sipping Vodka and munching Stroopwafel. I _love_ programming, but I'd rather be working on interesting open source projects than crafting another f-ed up J2EE billing application.
If I die before then..... Oh well, at least I tried.
I have a BS in Mathematics [3.97] and another in Computer Science [3.97] and a Masters in Computer Science [3.2] and yet another in Industrial Engineering [3.4].
I'm here in the Midwest hoping each Friday is not my last at my employer. There are no jobs out there especially if you live in the Midwest.
Right now, I'm making plans to to into farming. There's gotta be a way to purloin all those years of education into a decent income.

If you know a subpoena might be served against you, you might decide not to generate documents at all as there is no legal requirement that you have to generate specific documents in different instances.
This is akin to offices under threat of litigation where email transactions are replaced by phone calls, and meetings are held over lunch so no minutes are kept.
This means, you are legally able to have your logs written to/dev/null since this means that were never generated (and thus could not have been destroyed).

Personal testimony. I did some long haul driving in the past year and thanks to coffee, I managed not to kill a few people.
I'm healthy, they're healthy. Everybody wins.
Further proof: It's 'kicking' for enemas. [I'm told]

As for vodka, well that's the fuel I run on.
The motivation is that only remaining top notch in your field is what will get you the next job.
Your skills might not be able to save this job, so use them as a test bed for new skills and (hopefully) land the next one.
Then... wash, rinse, repeat
