I worked for awhile at a reasonably-sized computer store in Northwest Florida, which I won't tell you is named Tech Advanced Computers, and I really won't say their web site is at http://www.techadvanced.com/.
However, I tried introducing F/OSS at my business, and was told to stop, and for one reason:
We could support Microsoft software; our technician wouldn't support Firefox, or OpenOffice, or Linux. It's simply much easier to be a Microsoft shop.
sometimes it feels like an agenda is being pushed by this site.
You're new here, aren't you?

Here's a quick snapshot from Econ 101, which you apparently slept through:
The point of a business is to::make money::. If you make a brilliant car, or a brilliant CD, and take a deficit on it, then one of a few things must be true:
(1) Making money is not your first goal, in which case you are -not- running a business. You may be an artisan, or a charity, but you are not a business, because your first goal is not making money.
(2) You're running a sucky business.
Feel free to mod me down, since I'm running on 2hrs sleep in the last 36, and am feeling really caustic. This isn't me, usually. I'm a nice guy, honest.
Pff. We have gas here in Northwest Florida for $2.13/gallon. If you go two counties west to Escambia County, where the taxes are lower and the transportation costs decrease, I'm fairly sure you could find gas for $2.05 or less.
You can also hold said lights near an Antenna radiating a couple hundred watts, and while it definitely blows away the FCC's field strength safety regs, it WILL glow.
I'm not quite sure you understand. It was ILLEGALLY sold. Without the permission of the account holder. Meaning that whatever you SAID you didn't sold...doesn't matter.
Generally, that's the rule; USAF operational technology is 5-10 years ahead of public knowledge, and testing is generally about 15-20. Cue the B-2 and the F-117.
...so my friend came over and asked to use the phone. I said "Certainly." He said "Do I need to dial 9?" I say "Yeah. Especially if it's in the number. You can try four and five back to back real quick if you want..."
That's -unreal-. There aren't three million people for a 75 mile radius where I live. I can't imagine 3 million -illegals- wandering through. Doesn't that put a massive strain on infrastructure??? How do you guys handle it?
-scuff- quite right! Being over here on the other side of the continent makes you forget little things like who killed whom. I'm just doing good to be able to punch my ballot...

Rebuttal to first two replies to unnecessary, extraneous comments.
We're on Slashdot. We can't even spell "Moore", much less Jig..yaa..
yeah.
No, no. You've got it all wrong. As a citizen of the Confederacy, I can report that the TRUE last words of a Southerner are as follows:
"Hold mah beer; watch this!!"
I called bullocks on needing weekly medical exams when using tritium.
...Sandra, is that you?

Aw, shit; I forgot to bring my Sarcasm Hat to work. Sorry, guys.

HAH.
No, no no no. The FAA can mandate what goes in space, not the FCC.
=)
yeah.
Re: Primer
"What the FUCK?!" I saw it last night when I should've been working. My head still hurts.

I dunno. Ask.

Yeah, but who's gonna remember "Jigyasubalak's Law"?
-facepalm-
Thank you, Sir AC. You have made me laugh in hysterics on a horribly miserably day.

Alas, poor Mitch. I knew him, Horatio...
I don't care, as long as Jar-Jar takes a trip in the Lava Bath before Anakin does.
Oh. Wait. Wrong thread.
Sorry.
Or, as might be said...
who gives a rat's ass?
This is a classical definition of a Baggy Pantsing.
