The letter/number on normal phone systems has driven me crazy ever since I got my Treo. I have to either use the on screen keyboard or try to remember the letter locations. It's not terrible, but it's certainly annoying.
It always seemed to me like if you REALLY wanted to make money, you'd just sell hotcakes. The profit margin on them has to be great. Plus, imagine how well they would sell!
When I speak (admittedly poor) French, I want people to corect me when I get something wrong. Why is the fact that they don't speak english relevant to him correcting them? Seems to me that if you didn't speak it natively, you would want your grammar corrected so that you can improve.
Confusing websites != confusing companies. I've gone to many websites that were not the thing I was looking for. You don't get to the site and end up e-mailing them to ask what they did with their videos. One's a tubing company, one puts videos online. It's not hard.
Any court's going to say that there's no commercial overlap and therefore, it's not an issue.
No, they don't have a chance. Legal precedence is that trademarks are only really an issue if there's a legitimate chance of confusing the two. No one's going to confuse a internet video service and a tubing company. It's like what happened between Apple Computers and Apple Records. Court decided that no one was going to legitimately confuse the two, so it was fine for them to have the same name.
Of course, that may be a bad example now, since Apple Computers is selling music, but back when the lawsuit was happening.
A) People who are going to vote on party lines are going to vote on party lines whether there's a single checkbox or 30. B) Most people who vote along party lines do so because they agree with the ideology of the party. It's not about single people. C) I vote straight Libertarian because I agree with their stance on 80% or so of issues, plus I am trying to send the political establishment a message with my vote. I read up on all politicians running in my area and do my research on propositions. Am I still voting without using my brain? D) Checking one box instead of 30 to accomplish the same thing sounds a lot smarter to me.
I'm Libertarian (see: likes taxes less than Republicans, though understands the fact that expenses have to be decreased accordingly), and I frequently give money to charities and the homeless. I would be willing to bet that republicans and deocrats give about equal amounts of money, on average, to charities. I know my republican family gives a very high percentage of their income to charities. It's not about not wanting to share. It's about me not wanting the government to decide where my money goes, largely because the government is very bad at that. I understand that some taxes are necessary to sustain services that no one other than the government can perform. That's all good and well. But if I want to give money to the poor, I'd much rather do it through an avenue that isn't run by incompetents who have a history of being incredibly wasteful, thanks.
Isn't it crazy when things don't fit into your convenient black and white views? Maybe that's a sign.
Intelligence != race. There are exactly 0 ways in which these two can be called parallel. That's like me saying you can't open the door because it's locked and you saying that's the same as me stopping you from opening the door because you're black. Not analogous.
Also, I believe you've made it quite clear where you stand on the intelligence scale.
It depends what period of time you acquired this playtime over.
I had 100 days played in EQ1, but it was over a 5 year span. A good friend of mine had 100 hours played in a year and a half. Makes a big difference.
The whole point is that Windows doesn't know it's formatted as another filesystem. It doesn't know any filesystems other than FAT/FAT32/NTFS. All it sees is a partition in no known format, and assumes it is just random unformatted bits. It isn't Windows' fault that you didn't check your partition table (always, always triple check that before formatting drives!!!).
I have installed windows on a linux machine many times. Not once has it destroyed the hard drive. MBR, yes. Linux partition, no. All I had to do is go drop a new boot-loader on the machine. Something went wrong, that sucks (a lot), I understand. But that's hardly grounds to declare an entire OS "crap."
I think another thing is that people expect to like their jobs ALL the time. Any job will have parts you don't like. The question is whether the bits you like outweigh the bits you dislike. My mom's a great example. She's a financial advisor, and there are definitely parts of her job that drive her crazy (dealing with tax-related stuff being the foremost), but on the whole, she loves her job. People need to realize, that you are WORKING. Yes, you should enjoy your job. No, you shouldn't expect it to be great all the time.
Me? I hate my job, but that's one of several reasons I'm only going to be here another couple months.
It's only for kernel level drivers. Userspace drivers just bring up that old pop-up. It's not that big a deal, as very few things require kernel level drivers.
Well, first off, it was as much in jest as anything else. Schools do get a deal on the copies, as Microsoft's real goal with that program is to get young adults/future businesspeople hooked on Microsoft products. But yeah, the students do pay for it. Still, you are right that people not using it are still paying for it, but that's true with most of your tuition at a university.

For great justice, open up every game console!
No. He's claiming that the latency is going to be very low, or these things would be worthless.
"Cool kids on /. - that's a good one, nerd."
The irony in this statement astounds me.

I was kind of thinking the opposite for myself. I have a high metabolism and thus a high body temp. Plus I live in Texas. Guess I'm screwed.

"...AND the Beatles!"
If Sarah-Jessica Parker starts running for office, I'm going to leave the country.

I wish I had mod points for all three of these comments. I think the confused guy was the funniest one.
With or without a chair as a weapon?

Using anecdotal evidence that bashes windows is +3. Using anecdotal evidence that bashes Linux is trolling.
Funniest part? I use Ubuntu all the time.
I've had Red Hat (years ago) completely corrupt my HD while shutting down. Obviously I should never use any Linux distro ever again!

No one's saying it's not a quad-core. The issue is that it isn't going to perform nearly as well as a processor designed for four cores.
"Within that black box of a CPU, it doesn't matter how things are connected."
Depends on what you're looking for. If you just want it to work, then yeah. But if that's all you're looking for, why are you buying a quad-core?
I've got my own suspicions as to your "fanboi"ism.
