Let them merge and then split into two companies; the one that owns the fiber/hardware and the one that sells services. Force the hardware company to sell bandwidth to anyone that wants to offer services.
Except he is using an Android phone which probably came with it pre-installed. He doesn't need to use it for social networking; just use it as a media sync.
You can have Google Plus keep your photos/videos updated in your plus account as private. Then, you can download them to your pc if you need to. It does mean that google has your stuff but don't they anyway with it on your phone? If this bothers you, stop using your phone.
Edit your eclipse settings to insert only Unix-style line endings (I think under formatting rules and editor preferences) and if you have legacy code, use the "convert line delimeters to" item in the file menu.
I actually pushed to add OpenStreetMap tile support to our geo-spatial stuff at work. I even went and made a VM with the world database and pre-compiled metatiles so I wouldn't hammer their official servers. It's definitely nice to have imagery (even if it isn't satellite) even if you're on a standalone network and don't have internet access.
When anyone can download a few hundred gigs and build their own maps server I see that as a good thing (TM).
Any replacement for javascript is a step in the right direction. If they dropped dynamic types altogether it would be a much better alternative than it already is.
Currently at work I and all of my co-workers all have dual Dell 30" 2560x1600 monitors. I agree that screen real-estate (resolution, not directly the physical size) makes a huge difference. I wouldn't go back to a single 1200p (never 1080p) setup ever again; I have dual 28" 1200p screens at home for the same reason (not the 1600p ones because of cost at home).
However, I am unsure of the 39" form factor for a single monitor; I think I'd rather have dual 30" monitors at lower res than a single 4k at 39". Though, the new 31.5" 4k screens from Dell/ASUS/etc would be a nice replacement for my 30" ones...
I had to do some JavaScript at work and talked them into letting me use Dart instead; unfortunately, Dart isn't perfect either (get rid of the dynamic typing and get Dart VM support (instead of it running dart2js) and get it out of beta and it would probably be a lot better. It's definitely a step in the right direction but still too dynamic for me. I prefer structure.
Yeah, it's so great that it'll allow you to just decide to use some member variable somewhere without declaring it and making it impossible for someone maintaining it to know that it even exists. Or the fact that there's no way to know the type of a variable without basically reverse engineering the source code in its entirety.
Please, for everyone's sanity, stop it with the JavaScript crap; it's a terrible language, a terrible platform for applications, and supporting it is just prolonging it's Reign of Terror. (this is why we still have flash).
I logged in to say this. Linus (with an 'S') needs to jump off his high horse and be a personable human being. I have nothing against riding someone for breaking stuff but he's intolerable.
Why is the X logo by the story? This has nothing (directly) to do with X. Just because they opened their documentation doesn't mean X is the main focus...
I did something similar after a conversation at work using a 53' Semi Trailer and 4TB HDDs.
Semi = 630" x 94" x 102"
HDD = 4" x 1" x 5.75"
Total HDDs = 262628
Total Storage = 1050512 TB
Bandwidth from NYC to SF = 55.58 Tbps (42 hours according to google maps)
So someone can't be satisfied with how much TV they watch while at the same time be dissatisfied with their content provider, the costs incurred, and requiring commercials? I don't think satisfaction between the two are 1:1.
Except that I have a phone to use instead of giving them $800 and waiting two years to get it. Also, affording something over two years ie cell plan is easier to budget for than a large $800 chunk.
Yeah, "the pictures" which is why I said "design." Why are you being a troll? I didn't say, "The completed phone is amazing; too bad they only built one of them."
Tell them that you do 1-2 week sprints where you have a set amount of tasks. If they want new things added, they have to wait until the next sprint. Give them a login to your tracker site so they can view the progress/status. Have them come to sprint meetings as well so they have some input.

As the summary stated, something other than that as it requires an apache/mysql setup that is open to the internets

That last statement could be considered non-English...

What is this, the local fucking news?

Doesn't Ford support an Operator Assistance thing? They use a built in GPS for sending a tow to you or help you with directions etc.

1. Being dynamic
No, we shouldn't build applications in browsers in the first place.

The design is interesting and I'd love a dual-boot android/ubuntu device but I can't spend $600, let alone $830 on a phone.
