Where is the info that this is what's happening? It looks like from Level3's blog that they've offered to pay for more interconnects to Verizon's router?
So, one in 100 trillion proton-proton collisions exhibit this trait or whatever they're looking for but they only searched "billions"? I guess 100 trillion = 100,000 billions. Seems like they just didn't know the values they were using.
Or maybe they know their electricity comes from a source they're okay with? (nuclear, solar, wind, hydro) I know mine comes from nuclear and I'm okay with that.
Exactly, allow anyone who meets certain criteria to run (so we don't have 300 names on a ballot) but do not force only 1 Republican, 1 Democrat, 1 Green, etc. Also, stop allowing money contributions; public funds only so everyone is on the same level playing field. Hell, stop listing their party affiliation altogether; list their viewpoints on major key issues (a touchscreen so you can scan through each candidate would be nice but a reference packet you can borrow would work as well). We should be doing everything we can to limit people just dumping money into a race and washing their competitors out of the public consciousness, attacking to excess (like Cantor tried to do), or not being able to effectively run against someone for not being rich as well as not allowing people to just walk in, search for the one R/D/G, choose blindly, then say "good enough." People should be informed and we shouldn't be helping them be lazy.
Can't you just get a browser-id-changing-plugin and tell it you're using mac? I didn't RTFA and don't know what it does under the hood but if its just a "turn it on for this OS" and no other special installable bit, it should work?
Just separate each companies' hardware from its services and make two companies, the hardware side being a Title II Common Carrier. Then, anyone, including the former companies' services division can now buy wholesale access and sell their services.
The infrastructure is expensive and it isn't feasible for more than one or two companies to install lines to every home. Have one utility company install the lines and sell to the services companies. It should have been done years ago.
This, completely. Separate their infrastructure business from their services business, make the first a CC and tell them to sell at wholesale to anyone that wants to play ball.
Why did he keep assuming that the free hardware questions referred to "documented hardware" and not free hardware as he stated? When I think of free hardware I think of free designs that I can build myself with the right tools. In effect, it is documented hardware by default. Why assume the commenter didn't know what they were talking about? It seemed kind of mean-spirited.

So, how about a link to a press release from Microsoft for verification? It doesn't seem to be mentioned on their lifetime chart.(Windows Update Lifecycle)
I'm thinking of switching off Verizon for similar reasons after this phone announcement; CDMA phones are usually fucked with by Verizon because they're custom. I've never had reason enough to leave until now. It looks like it'll support T-Mobile networks and their LTE is passable where I live. Verizon's LTE is spotty at best anyway most places I go so why the hell not? Great phone, no bloatware, I'm intrigued.
Why do people need preferential treatment because they're of a specific race? How about banning the admission based on anything other than merit (including sports). If you're smart enough and dedicated enough to get admitted, you should be. If you're not, maybe you don't deserve to be. Not everyone needs to go to the most prestigous schools. Affirmative action seems more anti-white than pro-non-white.
Doesn't creating a striped RAID make up most of the performance issues from using a HDD over a SSD? At that point, it's more the bus or CPU that's a limiting factor?
I think this is more about Microsoft selling patches to companies who pay for extended support and then someone releasing the official-but-private patches to the public tubes, not about a third party making their own patches and releasing them.
I was rushed into a phone purchase by my parents who needed me to pick a new phone while I was driving through a traffic circle. I was talking to them via handsfree but couldn't concentrate enough and they were in a time crunch and NEEDED and answer. I begrudgingly chose the S4 because I liked the Samsung-made Nexus I had been using.
To my dismay, it's lock via Knox and made secure for use by the NSA apparently. I can't install CyanogenMod and their touchwiz UI is horrid. I'm never buying another Samsung phone again, regardless of how nice the hardware looks on paper.
I use Google voice exclusively. It allows me to have a phone number separated from my service provider which I probably won't have forever (so I don't have to worry whether I'll be able to port my number over). It allows me to make phone calls from my computer for phone interviews and the like (headset/mic so I can type). It also allows me to text people without paying Verizon a dime for bullshit reasons.
I have a similar situation; 18.6 TB RAID-Z at home (8 3TB drives) using FreeNAS and with the new update it shows it was initially set up using a non-native block size (I was a bit naive regarding the settings when I first set it up) and I'd like to rebuild it but I have no way to backup 14+ TB. Also, I would like to have a backup in case more than one drive dies (1 parity works well but I could still suffer a catastrophic failure). I've looked into tape backup but anything that seems like it'd have enough storage to be practical (1+ TB per tape) seems excessively expensive and the 100GB tapes seems like it'd be unmanageable.
Cities are expensive, crowded, dirty, and noisy. I'd rather live/work outside of a "city" than work in and either commute or use public transport. The expense is the biggest concern.
Windows 7 Desktop (gaming) Phenom II with 16GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, 2TB storage Windows 8 HTPC, Ceton InfiniTV Tuner FreeNAS server, 12U rack, 24 port managed switch (server has 2 gbit connections), 6 SAS JBOD card, 8x 3TB HDD, 8x 4TB HDD, RAID-Z2 on both sets. 35.4TB total.
My SSD vs. my old 10k velicoraptor loads zones in a certain MMO (not WoW) like 5s vs 30s+

The quote at the end of the summary sounded like it was from an illiterate nutjob; was that from Mayor Reed? I feel sorry for Atlanta...

It still sounds ridiculous.
The plural of Prius should be Priora if you're going latin; Priuses just sounds dumb.

Except that, as a mathemitician, I know PI ~= 3.141592654. How does this help if you can only get to two significant digits?

Except they know the issues now for the most part; they can do it right if they want.
