I put my battery's serial number in and it said mine needed to be replaced, so I put in my address and hit 'place order'. It just took me back to the serial number entry page without giving any confirmation. Has anyone else done this with the same results?
That's definitely my favorite one. I was watching some Voyager episodes with my friends and I told them it was a Star Trek rule that if a bunch of key characters and then some random ensign beamed down the ensign would usually die. They didn't believe me until it happened 5 episodes in a row:)
I watched the 20 minute wiki video and the biggest thing I noticed was that the AJAX page list took a LOT more code than the same functionality would in RoR. Other than that it looks nice, and it's good that RoR has some real competition.
Because people are easy to manipulate when they're afraid. 9/11, as terrible as it was, was the best thing to happen to Bush's presidency. It gave him the ability to justify any of his actions with "it's for the war on terror" and most people are afraid enough to take it. Hopefully he won't cause too much more damage before he's done in 08...
Modern high-end chips can draw a lot more than 70w. My Athlon x2 4400 is rated for 110W max and I know there are pentiums that use more than that. Also, there isn't that much of a difference between idle and load. The power consumption difference between load and idle for my system (just cpu, not gpu) is only about 25-30W.
I have an Inspiron 9300 (basically the same as the e1705 but single core cpu) and it does have very nice sound, noticably better than any other laptop I've seen. However, it doesn't have very big speakers. I've taken it apart a few times and the speakers are about.5in x 1in x 2.5in. That might be large for laptop speakers, but I think biggest difference is made by the small subwoofer on the bottom. I can turn off the subwoofer and when it's off my laptop doesn't sound much better than most others, but with the subwoofer on, it removes the main weakness of laptop sounds and gives a nice bass sound.
I agree. When I started playing, I couldn't believe that they had chosen such a frustrating movement control scheme. It also seemed to take forever to load...much longer than regular Half Life 2.
Everyone I know has cable, not because we don't have landlines but because it's 8x the speed of DSL. Cable from Comcast here is 6mbps, and even though it's significantly more expensive than Verizon's DSL, I only know a few people who have DSL since it's only 768kbps and feels dreadfully slow by comparison.
And if you don't want to manage your own server, you can buy hosting now with 500GB+ of transfer for $4-6/month. Considering how cheap hosting is nowadays, I'm so sick of people using the free file download services like Fileplanet that make you wait in line or download their own download manager...
I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 that I just upgraded to the Hitachi 7200rpm drive in the review. The speed is very nice. You might be content with a slower drive (like I was), but I could never go back to a 5400rpm or lower drive. With a utility from hitachi to put the drive in low power mode, I still get 4-5 hours of battery life and the drive still performs much better than a 5400rpm drive. When I'm plugged in, it automatically goes into full performance mode, not parking the heads or spinning down and it's even better. I've noticed that other factors (CPU use, LCD brightness) have a much bigger effect on my battery life.
Try using i8kfangui. You can control the fan speeds manually or set bounds and have it control them automatically. It hasn't been updated in a while but it works fine on my 9300.
The best one I've found is Insert Linux. Once you download, burn, and boot from the ISO, there's a menu option in fluxbox to install to a usb key. All you have to do is make sure the the first partition on the drive is at least 64MB and it'll do the rest for you, formatting the partition, copying files, and installing the bootloader. I haven't used it a whole lot, but they pack a lot into 60MB.
I love 7-zip too and I haven't used winzip since I found 7-zip a year or two ago. The only problem I have with it is that I can't drag files out of an open archive to extract them. Do you know of a way to do this, or if they plan to add it soon?
Yes they do

Are there so many links on purpose since it's about wiki?

I have a 7200rpm 2.5" drive in an external enclosure. If I hold the drive and move it around I can feel the gyroscopic effects, it's really neat :)

You can care about someone without praying for them. I'm an atheist but that doesn't mean I'm cold hearted and have no feelings...
I opened an incredibly simple openoffice document and it removed the indentation from all my paragraphs...indentation isn't an "obscure" feature.

I bought an x2 4400+ a couple months ago and it came with this heat sink. This is nothing new.
Yeah....the article says it affects XP SP 2
I think you mean
ME TOO!!!!111
Thanks! I think the last time I check for an update was some time in June.

This article is just a reworded copy of the built-in help for the browser. All of the 'tips' in the article are available within the browser itself.
I don't know if you were limited to internet only, but it was on FOX news and CNN also (cable tv).
