    Unadjusted 12-month CPI for food period ending Sept. 2011 is 4.7%. But that also counts restaurants, and a lot of places have absorbed the recent price increase rather than raise prices to consumers. For "food at home", it's 6.3%. Dairy is above 10%, as are fats and oils.

    If you move the lookback period to December 2009, it's 7.7% for all "food at home".

    There's a difference here, though. We knew space travel with a returning vehicle was possible, it was just that a private company hadn't done it.

    With solar we're trying to push the boundaries of what's possible, not just replicate existing technology.

    An SUV can fit, but it makes a blind corner for everyone else.

    Dunno if you have noticed, but environmentalists don't have much political clout in the US. We haven't passed a major environmental law in over 20 years. We did not adopt the Kyoto Protocol, and GHG reduction measures are considered by some elected politicians to be some sort of global leftist fascism.

    State/local opposition is what killed Yucca, via a powerful Senator.

    That assertion doesn't make sense to you only because you misread it. Getting into space isn't the hard part. "Expansion of a species into deep space" is, and is quite different from colonizing the moon.

    That doesn't mean that they necessarily see a butterfly. My cats will chase a laser pointer or a flashlight.. I don't think this is unusual feline behavior. So it's not outside the realm of possibility that they just see a flickering blob of light on the screen and chase after that.

    Your car very likely does not cost $0.10 to operate. $60 for 600 miles is 35 mpg, which is certainly doable.. but that doesn't consider any maintenance, insurance, etc.

    It seems unnecessary to buy a 2nd RT ticket if you're purchasing a transfer (the whole point of a transfer is to avoid charging a double fare).. but since you neglected to identify the system you were trying to use, your post is kind of worthless.

    I think that's because you're not doing much to the oils with just water. They don't readily go into solution without some prodding. That's also why drinking plain water doesn't do much help with the heat (and can make the sensation worse by just spreading it around).

    In the context of the really hot peppers, tabasco is just flavored vinegar, so I doubt it's true (more specifically, I doubt the tabasco had anything to do with the reported loss of smell).

    Only problem with that plan was the collateral damage. Which is why most of the people that supported the bailouts did so, not because they wanted to reward Wall Street for failure.

    Assumes that everyone living in rural areas is a farmer.

    BLS has 2.21 million jobs associated with agriculture in 2010. There are 59 million people living in rural areas as defined by the Census. Assuming the same labor force participation rate as the national average, there would be 27 million workers.

    Obviously just looking at farm jobs ignores support/service jobs associated with the farm jobs.. but there would have to be roughly 11 non-farm support jobs for every farm worker in order for all rural employment to be related to farming. I doubt that is the case since employment multipliers are usually in the range of 2-3.

    NB: This comment should not be construed as supporting the GP post.

    Clinton signed the agreement on November 12, 1998. However he never submitted it to the Senate for ratification, because of the 95-0 vote (which was technically a non-binding vote).

    It's kind of a cross between deinonychus and utahraptor, though utah hadn't been discovered until filming was underway. When Crichton wrote the book he used an old reference, and then they exaggerated the size for the movie (which turned out to not be an exaggeration after the utahraptor discovery).

    Plus velociraptor just sounds better anyway.

    Racing is judged by electronics, same with fencing, and it is used in the challenge system in tennis. It hasn't made these sports "sterile" or any less enjoyable.

    There is nothing enjoyable in having your team's season ended by an incorrect call (2003 Giants vs. Niners).

    They most certainly receive highway funds. Contingent funding can only be used for ~10% of total funds before it becomes unconstitutional (SD v Dole). http://www.nevadadot.com/About_NDOT/FAQs.aspx#question20
