Nothing wrong with patents but you should have the common sense to know when and how to use them. This is an obvious abuse of the system. It is the responsibilty of the patent owner and the patent office to get this right. You don't get off the hook by just blaming the patent office.
May I suggest a GeForce 4 Ti4200 with dual video out and TV-Out as a purchase for many of you who are behind todays video curve. The prices should drop once the GeForce FX is available at retail. The water in NWN looks fantastic as does all of Morrowind. Unreal Tourney runs smooth as silk. Team them with a cheap nForce mobo and AMD 1800+ Thourobred (spelling argh!) and you are off to the races!
Build you own rigs, it rocks!
Somebody should buy one of the GeForce FX cards and write the most demanding 3D game/app imaginable and then make sure it only runs on Linux, then you won't have to worry about finding a way to convince people to give it a try...
I suggest a minimum age of 5 for PG-13 and R movies please, that way I can go and watch Two Towers without a two year old screaming through the whole first half of the movie...
When in the hell was Wolverine ever a robot? There were some X-Ray pictures of his skeleton that looked very robot like and In Days of Future Past when he got blasted his skeleton looked Terminator like, but I don't think he ever looked like a robot...
I would like to be able to play the Battle of Helm's Deep in Real Time with about 16 other people, in some sort of multi-monitor immersive environment (think CAVE) or VR setup. All the orc AI should be maxed as well as having a complete army on each side. Then maybe we can slow down a bit...
You raise some interesting points, but five years could be a very short time indeed.
Also I can still make up Star Wars stories and I do with my nephew as we play with the various action figures. What I can't do is sell, publish, or distribute these stories.
I would be cool if after the last movie goes onto DVD if Lucas would open source Star Wars, but I think it should be his choice.
Indeed, why do you need Mickey and his friends even Disney is creating a new group of characters on their cable channel.
Do your own original stuff and release it for free if you so wish. If there was a central repository of such material that researched that each item was indeed original and useable be the public it would work or at least be exploited. Why do you need current stuff?

And Microsoft (Media2Go) wins again, by giving the customer what they want and not calling them bad names!

Car makers used to advertise rack and pinon steering.
