Dude check out the history of the VCR the movie industry thought it would destroy them and be a pirates dream. It was not the case however the average price of a VCR movies dropped from $80 to $5.99 over time and probably because of the the ability to copy the content. DVDs seems to be at the right price point in general to handle the P2P world, CDs are still priced to high with regard to the P2P situation and the should include MP3s of the songs and no copy protection...

Thanks, I was getting tired of the lawyer, EULA, privacy, politics stuff. These gadets rock! I actually got excited about a Microsoft sewing machine (luckily I came to me sense and found the iPronto to be a much cooler device). The exercise bike is something I have been thinking about designing myself for a long time, to bad it was not just a USB device with speed inputs.

No I was not looking down my nose at design issues, but I don't think they should be given more weight than the "technical stuff". I would love to have a great designer or even better a great writer to work with. What bothers me is how little technology posts or software posts have to do with technology/software.

Stop right there mister! This kind of talk could lead to a technical disscussion that has merits! Better to talk about "design issues", EULAs, and other stuff that everybody understands, too much code or science talk will just confuse the important "design issues"!

Well said, this is perhaps one of the best comments I have ever read. Get a grip everybody the world is becoming a better place. In the near future the only war with Iraq will be multiplay C&C, I am not kidding this is the way things are going to be, it will be a much better world, full of multi-player goodness.

If we fund the arts, why not games? I am going to make a game that puts up a bitmap of a soup can, it will change color based on mouse movements, that seems like an art/game that deserves funding don't you? The problem as I see it is with art I can force everybody to enjoy it, for instance a giant metal pineapple like piece of art was put in front of City Hall here in Orlando, FL. Now everybody get s to "enjoy" it, but how can I force people to enjoy my game/art, they paid for it after all, and the must be forced to appreciated it!!!

This is in reaction to Transmeta. Intel is basically saying that the chip designers and the Linus guy who works on Linux are on the right track with the low power, code morphing, and long battery life stuff. The speed race was very important for almost ALL application up to about 1 GHz (don't fault Intel or AMD for the speed race of the last decade it was needed). Now more factors come into play, while speed will still be important for many apps, it will come in different forms such as blades, dual procs, etc. I own shares in Transmeta, I think they have a bright future.
