A. The students weren't hacking, they were trying to protect their server and keep it running.
B. The hackers were intrusion specialists in the private sector. One used to work at the DEA and another was in the military.
I go to this school and am friends with one of the guys that is on the team. From how they tell it, they prety much owned the other teams (or at least got the least owned by the red team). Hopefully one of them will log on and give you their perspective.
I really wish I had heard about this before it happened, but I missed it. Oh well. The entire CS department here at Millersville will be pulling for them when they go onto Texas.
I got mine through my math department. They are participating in some kind of licence to students. The long and short of it is that i got mathematica 5 for free from my school, so you might want to check at your school if they have something similar.
there is an extension called favorites converter or something. It takes the bookmarks you got on firefox, and converts it into an IE favorites folder. Then just put them on a diskette, and move them. Or get someone at home to do it if you can't get home. Only problem is that it has not worked for me yet, which is kind of annoying, cause i would like to do pretty much the same thing.
GSPlayer is my absolut fave program. It is the only free program that i have found that can play internet streaming radio. I also like battery monitor pro. It puts a bunch of stuff on your home screen thats useful. I would also look into video game emulation if your ppc is fast enough. Also look around for aim for your ppc. Some versions off the web are free.
That was one of the best trailers that i have ever seen. Just about the best game that i have seen an individual make. I really wish that SE gave it their blessing. Or at least offered him a job. THat was some good work.
Please send me an invite! I would be extremely grateful. If you can find the time to send me an invite i would gladly dig through my hundreds of messages in my bulk mail folder. hinde01@yahoo.com
thanks for the suggestions. unfortuneately i took mostly computer science "theory like" classes, and i don't have the experience that i want much less want.
I wish that i had the money to go to carnegie mellon. I have to go to a school where the head of the computer science department thinks that working on video games is akin to whoring my computer science skills to the lowest common denominator.

There is probably a negative application for every medical innovation. If somebody wanted to make this kind of thing harmful they could. It would probably be simpler to alter an existing virus like smallpox. Compared to nuclear weapons developing a bio weapon is much cheaper, and has the potential for a much bigger impact.
I hope to god that it does not block ssh transfers.
My university has a habit of screwing over the computer science department, not to mention the students, and with the way the administration is posturing they might implement this or somethign like it.
The computer science department, at which I am preparing for my career, practically runs on ssh. It is the only way I know to access a SPARC machine, as well as the only practical way to compile using our linux lab.
The RIAA is looking out for itself. They are doing right by them, and I personally can't blame them, depite their absurd tactics that are ultimately alienating the people that listen to music.
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the group in which Mad Cow Disease is from (prions I think) fundamentally incurable?

sorry but this has to be the biggest crock of shit these idiots have cooked up so far.
Having an open minded girlfriend who works near you is always a good choice.

I don't think that most of these file sharers have ever heard of civil disobedience let alone understand it.
