Shouldn't the title of the story be MPAA vs. Lokitorrent as MPAA are doing the suing.
For a minute there I thought "wahey, someone is finally suing that bunch of criminals" then I realised it was just another boring MPAA lawsuit against a suspected copyright violator...news@11.
In terms of proprietary media players for MSW, Winamp really kicks the llama's^W MSW Media Player's *rse. It has far more features, is easier to use and is more reliable.
The benchmarks I have read have suggested that Firefox is faster. It seems to be a lot faster too and takes up a lot less memory (you can have thousands of windows or tabs open where as MSIE usually crashes if you get close to double figures).
Also, so what if MSIE is not so slow initially? So is MSWindows XP--it usually is fast for the first day and then gradually declines until one usually has to reinistall after a few weeks. What is the point in having to re-install your OS (either becuase of IE problems inc. spyware or other MSW problems) on a regular basis. For this reason, if you have to use MSW reduce the risk of FUBARing the MSW installation by not using MSIE.
Most users care more about the browser rendering the pages correctly (let's face it--MSIE does not fully support any version of HTML and has no XHTML support at all) than millisecond differences in rendering times anyway. In fact, more than that, users want intuitiveness, security, privacy and useful features; that is where IE really falls down.
I'm in the UK and the traffic lights seem to wait till there isn't much traffic (using weight sensor s or whatever). I thought they did this in most countries and had for a while.
Must be a slow news day. I've been using the standard builds of both Firefox and Thunderbird on a portable USB drive since 0.1. All the Portable Firefox project does is to optimise builds for this (e.g.: low disk usage). Anyway, the portable Firefox project has been around since June and has been mentioned on/. before.
Good one. It did remind me of that too. It made me think more generally about how on/. the USans are the really insane majority who think they aren't (the people outside).
Especially relevant as the grandparent is accusing Russia of letting "criminals" go free--instead of locking up all their law abiding citizens without trial as in the US (and, for that matter, non-US Russian citizens who go over there for doing rot13 encryption in Russia where it is legal). Also I think he'll find the alarms &c thing is more like the US.

I though he was the homeless guy in the alley who....
AFAIK the weatherfox developers aren't doing any trading so no one can have a trademark dispute with them.
There are no trademarks for `weatherfox' in the US or EU.
`Weather' is only registered in the field of "Cosmetics; hair care preparations; non-medicated skin care preparations" which last time I checked didn't cover software.
Even if it was registered `weather' might just be a generic term in the field of weather forecasting.
Sorry. Paisley obviously doesn't want any independence (although I don't know much about Ireland--they could want some possibly). I wasn't making the comparison--just pointing out it was untrue (as well as a bad comparison anyway). Terribly OT anyway.
Actually the US Constitution's other rights are also natural rights (according to itself) and the reason privacy was not included (despite some oblique references to it) is that privacy was not really so mcuh of an issue in the days before telecommunications--you just went behind the barn if you wanted a private convo.
The only reason the MSW source code is confidential is because MS don't want people to see how awful it is (as they'd never use MS's products again). Think about it. There's no other reason they should care about hiding the source.
You find a local X-box modder on that list and (s)he mods your X-box (hardware or software) or just your memory card and you give them chocolate or their suggsted gift for the service.
Actually, no, Paisley et al are far more militant, and Plaid Cymru don't even want independence, just some level of autonomy (like the NAW but more so--say like Scotland) unlike the Wales Independence Party (but I think they've disapparead off the political landscape).
well...actually a lot of the free software GNU games (like enigma or freeciv) can be quite addictive. And, possibly, better than forking out £37 (i think) for something that seem to claim is even more monotonous. Still Doom can't be that bad as it is a classic, ID seem a good co. and everyone's talking about it; wonder if my PC passes the spec though...
My main question is if they officially support GNU--not clear on thier WWW site...
The article doesn't explain the important thing which is how they managed to inject enough stem cells into adult (for the adult to not reject them) from the small amount of blood available in an umbillical cord. There has only traditionally been enough (that the body's normal blood's anti-body won't attack) for a child's blood. Unless, they are talking about injecting it into the actually spine or something...I'm confused...

How can a comparsion even be made?

Both the parliament (nearly all members) and the council of minsters (most members) are now against this proposal. It looks dead in the water.
Also if Microsoft spent as much time fixing bugs in their software as they do on Halo2....
Ummm...raaaight....you just believe that....

ClientServerNews (LinuxGram's "sister company") have released a PDF document of the filing by O'Gara.
Maybe, you would be able to find the court filings too. Does anyone know where you can get Microsoft's filings in US vs. MS?
I searched for a link but Microsoft have removed all their court filings from http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/doj/, http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/trial/, http://www.microsoft.com/legalnews (all 404, but, interestingly, not with MS's usual 404 message) and the rest of their site, and no one seems to have copies. See the filings list (with links) at Harvard Uni's OpenLaw.

TSG shouldn't go round suing everyone and their grandma if they don't want people investigating their business (or lack thereof).

but I don't (partly for those reasons).
Ye. Now, I'm more awake and have actually caught up with my weeks of no sleep it shocks me that I even got those confused.
