Don't be so bitter. We can't win them all.
I consider building the body of the Maize & Blue (winner of '93 race) and doing the wind tunnel testing the highlight of my engineering days at Michigan. And I am ecstatic that Michigan has kept up with the early solar car race successes.
Go BLUE!!!
Frankly, I hope this bill passes and does not get challenged in court.
I have a 6 year old daughter who is already doing 2nd grade level math and I hope to teach her to have scientific thinking on everything she does. Who knows, she may even become a famous scientist.
And her chance of succeeding (getting into a top science college, getting a science job) improves with every other state that passes BS like this. In a perverse way, your state's cluelessness, helps my daughter compete later.
So, LA can stay in the scientific backwater for all I care. Keep passing laws like this and screw the future of your children. It just less for my daughter to deal with later.
The funny thing is, the Big Three motor companies have fought tooth and nail over last 30 years for any kind of CAFE standards that would raise the mileage for cars. And now, that action has come to bite them in the ass and 1 or all thee may go bankrupt because they have too much production for gas guzzling trucks and SUV's and not enough infrastructure to build fuel-effecient cars.
If they supported raising mileage standards, they would be in MUCH better position today to ride this oil price crisis. But because of their short-sighted policies, they are going to pay with their company.
Ummm... It seems that it is you who has completely missed the point.
"PC gaming division which only had a handful or real hits"???? How many hits do you think a typical gaming company has? How many has Id had?
For your information, with just "handful of real hits" Microsoft's PC gaming division was INSANELY profitable (the profits from Flight Simulator alone would be good enough for 10 typical game companies). The profits only fell when they started buying out game studios like Rare (and many other dev shops no longer in existence) - which you mistakenly contribute to their success.
You should get your fact straight before sprouting misconceptions.
Actually, "gravity is 'just a theory'" is a perfect example.
Like you said, Gravity is a fact. But so is Evolution. Evolution is a fact as this article and everything we know about biology indicates. Explanation on why and how it happens like "Survival of the Fittest" is a theory just like General Relativity.
So in fact, saying 'Evolution is a just a theory' is just like saying 'Gravity is just a theory'. They are both wrong.
Hmmm... I never heard any Chinese folks joke about how they look the same (I am myself a Korean married to a Chinese wife). And I mean NEVER.
They may have referred to how Westerners think all Chinese look alike, but Chinese themseleves don't see it that way.
If you are going to make a racist joke, fine. But don't blame that on the victim's race.
Let me put this in a way that a fellow geek would understand.
This guy not upgrading to latest and greatest OS, Browser, etc. is just like how geeks buy a piece of clothing and wear the same thing until it literally disintegrates and then buy the cheapest, least hip clothing available to replace it.
Unlike the hipsters who are in-the-know with the latest fashion trends, scouts latest runway shows and buys the $2,000 shiny Prada pants and replaces it when it goes out of fashion the following year.
So, now that everyone here knows that this a "bug" with Firewire that affects all OS, including Linux, will you step up and eat some crow?
By your logic, does 'Linux+security=joke'?
Unless you buy a laptop with a really good video card (NVidia 7400 or better with dedicated memory), you are going to have a hard time getting decent performance out of it, no matter how much memory or processor speed you have.
Most of the laptops I looked at last year were being sold with integrated Intel or NVidia GPU's which really cannot run Vista very well.
If you are planning to purchase a laptop for Vista, getting the highest end video card you can get is of the highest importance.
Actually, you would have almost not chance of winning with the current Supreme Court.
This court has struck down time and time again in any case where a person who brings the lawsuit cannot demonstrate that they have been harmed (mostly on controversial cases that they don't want to deal with).
And since the warrantless wiretaps were done in secret and there is no chance that you can find out whether or not your phone was tapped, and thus, you would have no standing in the eyes of this Supreme Court.
Thus, Bush Administration can continue to whatever they want as long as they do it in secret.
This is also precisely why every American citizen should be outraged at the current (non) legal status at Guantanamo as that serves as a basic template on how to take away your Constitutional rights.
Of course they are pandering to their own base - IT IS THE PRIMARIES!!! Once you secure the nomination, then you start modifying your message to appeal to the wider base. But you won't be able to convey that message unless you get nominated by your own party first.
Only reason McCain has done well so far is because the two early primaries he won allowed independents to vote. McCain won by winning those independent votes but he is running far behind when it comes to registered Republicans. And since most of the primaries from here on do not allow indpendents to vote, McCain is going to have a very difficult time securing the nomination.

I don't think watching P0rn qualifies as "spending time with my girlfriends"...
I am sorry, but what you are spewing is a lot of BS.
The tires have the most gripping power just BEFORE it starts to slide. Once it slides you do not have enough traction to do anything let alone stop. Which is why in car races, when the wheels lock up, they tend to go straight into a wall.
No driver, experienced or not can keep the tires at its maximum grip like ABS can. ABS system applies brakes multiples time within a second - no human can reproduce that.
Only situation where ABS is detrimental is on loose surfaces like gravel and heavy snow where the wheel lock up tend to push the material forward which aids in stopping.
I have no idea what ABS test you are talking about and an actual reference would help. There are plenty of tests the vindicate ABS.
Wow, your ability to contradict yourself is phenomenal. What color is the sky in your world?
You first say: The fact the GWB cut taxes and revenues climbed tells me that we were on the right side of the curve. We may have crossed the crest and ended up on the left side, but I think that is unlikely.
Then you contradict yourself in the very next comment: Of course the economy soared during WW2. Prior to WW2 was the Great Depression! There was no other direction for the economy to go!
Following your second statement, couldn't you logically conclude that tax revenue increased under GWB because we were coming out of 2001 recession? How do you know it was the tax cut that did it? It could have just well been that GWB could have left the tax alone and we could have STILL seen the increase in tax revenue.
In fact, that scenario DID happen under Clinton! When he raised tax rates (no he didn't lower it, you really have an interesting memory), all the supply side cuckoos pointed to Laffer Curve and said "you are going to kill economy and lower tax revenue!!!". Instead, we saw one of the greatest economic growth in decades (and corresponding increase in tax revenue which allowed us to actually REDUCE deficit which GWB has failed to do).
You are still missing the point.
Yes, it is a curve. But NOBODY HAS ANY IDEA WHERE THAT CURVE IS!!!
It could very well be that we are on the upslope of the curve where raising the rates would mean more tax revenue. No one can say for sure the curvey is really meaningless.
For instance, during and after WW2, the US economy soared and tax revenues were healthy even thought the top brackets were paying 70% or more. So there is no WAY that you can say that increasing the tax rates right now would have a negative impact on the tax revenue. It is HIGHLY likely the modest increase of tax rates WILL increase tax revenue. Most of the historical data supports that.
No shit! What Up? This is Choi. How the hell are you? Too bad I can't send a private email...

Who is the lucky person at NASA who gets to receive all the urine they get and prep them?

I just feel, and this is from my limited understand of evolution and Darwinism, that evolution isn't truly science either.
There is a VERY STRONG correlation between your "limited understand of evolution" and why you believe "evolution isn't truly science".
It is kinda like a person who cannot do simple arithmatic telling mathmaticians "math really doesn't work"...

Whether or not they turn to religion is based on what the parents and others around teach them.

I wonder if anybody can help out or do they only want help from hetersexual and religious programmers?
Wouldn't it be bit of a double standard if they won't allow atheists and homosexuals to join, but will gladly accept free labor from them?

When did Strawberry Shortcake start posting on Slashdot?
If you believe that Star Wars (the missile defense system) is actually a working system, then you are, by definition, a member of a cult.

So, does your drive-less, no wi-fi laptop have some direct connection to your brain that you don't need a monitor?
I am guessing your laptop with monitor on with a hard drive and wi-fi is going to consume 2 to 3 times what you have listed here.
Do I really care to go the extra distance to support 2% of my traffic? Probably not.
