Nope, a DMCA counterclaim at this point is simply writing out a statement and sending it to, in this case, youtube, stating that you believe, under penalty of perjury, that the content is parody in nature falling under fair-use.
There is only one part of that where you are partially right. The government cannot invest copyright in it's own works. However if some non-government person/organization created a copyright-able work and girted/sold the copyright to the government, the government can hold and enforce it.

But it is not likely that thousands of different banks would mess with it. The more likely scenario is that the thousands of different banks would work with a handful of providers of software which would provide custom skinned but still the same underneath applications. The users of the iPhone should get to choose their provider.
You are right though, it is about (Apple) grabbing (or keeping) a larger share of the merchant's fee. They tried to do the same thing in the ebook market, and ended up out $400M for their un-competitive practices, of which I got my meager $4.35.
Automated closed captioning for the hearing impaired would be one. I'm not hearing impaired, but I use the CC system with the volume low when I am watching TV while everyone else in the house is sleeping. I also use it when everyone is awake and noisy. It is amazing how awful some CC can be.
Apple is seeking for itself the exclusive use of Australia's existing NFC terminal infrastructure for the making of integrated mobile payments using iOS devices.
Basically Apple won't let other payment providers create their own apps for mobile payments and wants free use of the infrastructure on IOS devices.

I know exactly how they work and what I am giving up and what I get in return. I am well aware of the vulnerabilities found in various IOT devices. I've been a software developer for 25+ years. I probably will buy one anyway. I trust google to fix vulnerabilities fairly quickly, more so than other IOT companies. I'm certainly not going to be doing my banking over the thing, but I like the idea of this kind of assistant and am willing to make the trade off.
There are a couple of yahoo groups I belong to that I still log into my yahoo account once or twice a week. Was going to switch one of them I moderate over to google groups, but google kill off the feature that allowed group members to upload a file to the group...
I want less "Suggested" posts. I don't mind news that one of my friends shared and thinks is important, I do dislike algorithmicly chosen junk that I might like, because usually it is wrong.
Really I just use facebook to keep up with long distance family and friends. And really, I don't accept friend requests from all of my family either.

I'm curious. In the settings you can disconnect the app from your google account. Would that prevent the logging of non-incognito messages?
