In Norway, we call them "Lego-klosser" (Lego bricks) as well. You might get a way with "Har du Lego?" (Got Lego?), meaning "Do you have a set of lego bricks?". Because Lego was invented in Denmark, and Norway is a Scandinavian country too, I think that should set the precedence.

Actually, we've had a right-winged government for some time now, trying to privatize everything, and things seem to have become worse. Besides, if taxes were reduced, people would get lower pay (society tends to make sure things are in balance) and more money would be spent on things like health insurance, and we'd be back at square one again. At least that's how I suspect it might turn out.

Peh! As a fellow Norwegian I think we're just being whimps. High pay minus high taxes equals regular western standard of living. We're a beurocratic country, but our government provides us with a protective social bubble in return. Also, we're in the middle of nowhere, so no bombs or terrorists coming our way. Personally, I'm glad we're small and filthy rich.

UrbanDictionary is good, the definitions at times very biased or humoristic, but still a useful tool. I'm also fond of Dictionary.com, Wikipedia and my trusty Clue NO EN dictionary. Didn't occur to me to look up computer slang at the former site, though.

A lot of people have "always wanted to visit Norway". I don't find our mass of tourists overwhelming, though, so I figure we're not that exotic. After all, one does get bored with fjords and mountains after a while, and you can't have a beer in a pub without coughing up $8 for a half liter glass. ;) Oh well...

  17. Re:Better have something inline on When Should You Quit Your Job? · · Score: 1

What I wanted to point out was that I think work should be only a small part of your life. It certainly shouldn't take up most of your day. If you start thinking statistics, you spend more hours either preparing for, travelling to/from and recovering from work than you spend realizing yourself. A regular nine to five job takes up 8 hours of your day. To that you can probably add a *minimum* of 1 hour of travel. You end up with at least 9 hours of your day spent working. If we assume that the average worker gets tired around 11, that leaves you with 6 hours of spare time. If we add in vacations and weekends, it becomes more, but a daily portion of 6 hours of spare time (and you can subtract meals, grooming, house work, etc from that) isn't really enough to get going with anything time consuming. I say if that's how the rest of my life is going to be, then I'm disappointed. Personally, I can only hope that I find work that is interesting, or I will be unhappy.
