I'm not arguing that. Yes, they were allowed past security with stuff they should not have had.
My question is this:
Given that the 9/11 guys had valid tickets and boarding passes, exactly how does barring non-passengers from the gate area prevent the occurrence of a 9/11 type event?
I agree with OP that the reinforced and barred cockpit doors are good for preventing a 9/11 style attack. I'm disagreeing with his assertion that allowing only passengers past security does the same.
One exception this time around. I held my nose and voted for the major party candidate who wasn't Carly Fiorina, on the theory that that particular race was going to be very close, and I don't believe Carly's reward for running Lucent and (almost) HP into the ground should be the US Senate.
Sigh. Great, now the pea-nutty people have more ammo for declaring nut-free zones (from which they do not remove themselves, ironically) in schools, camps, clubs, etc etc.
How is a kid, who is legally required to be at school (and often required to be at a certain group of tables during lunch) supposed to remove himself from that place?
Also, you make it sound like "oh, he'll sneeze and itch". This is *DROP DEAD* stuff that we're talking about it.
I'd have called it "not enough seats".
[AOL] Me too! [/AOL]

Those are irrelevant to my question.

User Friendly has the answer.
only allowing passengers to the gate (after screening) ensures we'll never have a 9/11-type attack again
Why does this enhance security? All the 9/11 guys had valid tickets and boarding passes.
Ah... memories...
The mm and me packages. Used me at UCSC in '84, and mm for about 10 years at my first job (before MSWord became ubiquitous).
And of course, it's part of one of the unix puns...
A Unix software pirate says, "Argv! nroff -me timbers!"
Yeah. I hate info. Actually, what I hate are man pages that say "use info $APP for the man page".
Dammit! You beat me to it!
And mods, this is definitely NOT Off-topic, it should be modded "funny" if it's modded at all.
Orangutans are also most vegetarian plus incests
I can attest to this. We were at the Orang exhibit at the San Diego Zoo, and everyone there got a lesson on where baby orangutans come from.
Even some of the Navy guys who were visiting the zoo were blushing.
Have you ever heard of entities?
< generates a < less than symbol quite nicely.
Similarly, > generates a > greater than.
And if you need an ampersand (&), & does the trick.
Is that what they call "sexing-up" the story?
Well, Stockdale was there, but I'm not sure I'd describe him as being "involved".
"Who am I? Why am I here?"
Ditto.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED! To find that astroturfing has been happening on Twitter!
According to "Star Trek", people from an antimatter universe refer to our antimatter as "antimatter".
Please see the first season episode "The Alternative Factor", for reference.
I wonder if it's the AV software kicking in on the JRE as well as OO.o proper?
some sort of actual storage instead of the 4-8GB that could be in that thumb drive max
Do you know how many computers I've had and/or used that had at least an order of magnitude less than 4-8GB mass storage?
Why, back in my day, we had 160KB floppy disks! And we were glad to have 'em too!!! Rassum fassum darned kids today with their fancy "USB Drives"...
Maybe I don't want to hear the screaming baby two booths over?
In what numeric system does 3 == 9?
It's a filk of "When you're a Jet", from "West Side Story".
Would that be Gidney and Cloyd?
Full of Whalers!!!
But rust never sleeps
