I really hope they don't try another Trek series until they have someone at the helm who truly understands what makes Trek great
This last season has been very good. Manny Coto has been running it, not the Killer-B's. He has shown that he cares about original Trek. We've dealt with the nasty attitude of the Vulcans, the Klingon ridges, the initial steps of starting the Federation, dealing with Tellarite/Andorian/Vulcan hostility. Plus, of course, the killer "entire episode, including opening credits, is Mirror Universe" two-parter.
Back in the day, we were developing a handheld box for the airforce.
One of our requirements was a 5-foot drop nonoperational, and a 3-foot drop operational. We were using the original HP 40MB "matchbox" drives.
Turns out that it was easier to pass the operating test if we dropped from 5 feet instead of 3 feet, because it gave the internal accelerometer more time to park the heads!
Example. REAL-ID was pushed through as a "rider" (or amendment) to the Iraq troop funding bill. It would be political suicide to vote against the troop funding, so REAL-ID got to go through 100-0.
"Pork" refers to wasteful political spending (especially in one's home state or district), as in "I brought home the pork!".
Pork Riders are the attachment of pork-spending (or other wasteful/harmful items -- see Real ID above) items to a bill.
Well, I know that the Texas Legislature invoked the USA PAT RIOT act so that they could try to find those pesky Democrats who were hiding out so that there wouldn't be a quorum to rubberstamp the Republican's gerrymandering plan.
Disclaimer, I don't live in Texas, and I'm neither a Democrat nor a Republican.
Took me a minute to get it, but then I remembered when my Cub Scout pack went to Capistrano to see the swallows return (and no, I don't know if they were European or African).
Thank you. I've been hunting keyboards and monitors for ages, and you're the first target I hit!
1. You listed it as "Avron", so I looked for uppercase. Plus, I just checked, and it appears to be case insensitive.
2. If you know a user's name, it's "http://slashdot.org/~user". e.g:
http://slashdot.org/~avronius (you)
http://slashdot.org/~sconeu (me)
Get out of the city!

No, I'm saying that post-Watergate, the press wanted to *be* the story instead of just reporting it.
Because the major news outlets lost all journalistic integrity somewhere around 1994.
Try 1974. Everyone wanted to be the next Woodward and Bernstein.
Don't forget Go! Computer
Your sig says it all...
The little guy just ain't getting it, is he?
Actually, he is... right up the ass.

Hedley Lamarr: "You mentioned strontium-90 twice"
Rei: "I *like* strontium-90!"
Hedley Lamarr: "Kinky!"

Just last week, I tried to explain to my 15 year old daughter what a punch card was....
All powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0.
As the Church lady would say.... "How conveeeeeeeenient!"
To add my voice to all the others...
I have never served, but I as a defense contractor, I work with the Army all the time.
Without exception, they have been among the most clueful, intelligent, and thoughtful people that I have ever met.

I further predict that you personally will vote to reelect someone that voted for this legislation
I doubt it, since I don't vote for Republicrats or Democans.
Note to self. In the future, remember the tags for the sarcasm-impaired.
No Hollywood film has ever turned a profit. Ask Art Buchwald, who got ripped off for "Coming to America", a hugely successful film.
no no, it's Ni!
Arrgh! You said that word!!!!
San Juan Capistrano is SoCal, not Central Ca.

I'm not sure you could bred a toy poodle with a wolf for example
My sister's friend has a... German Shepherd/Daschund mix. I'm not kidding.
It's quite amazing, actually; they have evolved in a very short span of time
For those living in Kansas, they have been intelligently designed in a very short span of time.
I don't know if he did it from memory, but...
We reach, Mr. DanielMarkham. We reach.
Are you counting the launch of the Skylab habitat itself? That was an unmanned (modified) Saturn V.
As a side note, Apollo 7, and the three Skylab crew flights were Saturn 1Bs. I don't remember if Apollo/Soyuz was a V or a 1B.
