I really hope they don't try another Trek series until they have someone at the helm who truly understands what makes Trek great

This last season has been very good. Manny Coto has been running it, not the Killer-B's. He has shown that he cares about original Trek. We've dealt with the nasty attitude of the Vulcans, the Klingon ridges, the initial steps of starting the Federation, dealing with Tellarite/Andorian/Vulcan hostility. Plus, of course, the killer "entire episode, including opening credits, is Mirror Universe" two-parter.

Back in the day, we were developing a handheld box for the airforce.

One of our requirements was a 5-foot drop nonoperational, and a 3-foot drop operational. We were using the original HP 40MB "matchbox" drives.

Turns out that it was easier to pass the operating test if we dropped from 5 feet instead of 3 feet, because it gave the internal accelerometer more time to park the heads!

Example. REAL-ID was pushed through as a "rider" (or amendment) to the Iraq troop funding bill. It would be political suicide to vote against the troop funding, so REAL-ID got to go through 100-0.

"Pork" refers to wasteful political spending (especially in one's home state or district), as in "I brought home the pork!".

Pork Riders are the attachment of pork-spending (or other wasteful/harmful items -- see Real ID above) items to a bill.
