I built one of these in college using a vga panel and an overhead projector. It was easy and cheap to build, but quite a hassle to use. The room had to be extremely dark and the contrast on the panel sucked. The panel also seemed to overheat a lot and sometimes even got burned.
It really wasn't a good solution for casual viewing. I switched back to my 19inch CRT.

To bad PiKA will still beat the robotics department, an unmanned buggy just cant compete againt frat boys and 5 foot tall female drivers.
