What most parents fail to understand is that the vaccine schedule is designed to make it easy for people to follow. Parents have the right to ask for a titer test for each antibody that determines whether or not your child needs each vaccine. We've done this annually with our children to be able to make informed decisions about which vaccines to administer.
My seven-year-old hasn't had any vaccines or boosters since she was three because she hasn't needed anything - NOTHING - she had all of the antibodies that she was tested for. Armed with this kind of knowledge, how can you NOT be skeptical of just following rest of the herd to shoot up our kids with unnecessary chemicals?
The autism spectrum includes a range of conditions from severe symptoms in which the afflicted is non-functional to high-functioning autism like Aspbergers. The reason it is considered a spectrum is that most of those diagnosed with autism have some combination of traits that are found somewhere on the spectrum. Common traits usually involve sensory processing issues and nonverbal communication deficits.
There's a problem with this line of thinking though. If Novell adds code that intentionally infringes on Microsoft's patents, that code will be tainted so that no other projects or distributions can realistically use it.
I don't know if that revokes the GPL for Novell in that case, but I've got that feeling that we'll all know soon enough.
I think that this could effectively take Suse out of the Linux community for good. If Suse has a free pass on Microsoft's patents, they will want to take advantage of those patents in FOSS to give themselves a competitive edge. Other distros will not be able to safely use those modifications because they will still be susceptible to Microsoft's legal wrath.
My wife also had a great experience. So good that I decided to get it done myself.
I am now one of many others who have not had such a pleasant experience even after coughing up thousands of dollars and spending many hours finding the best surgeon in the Columbus Ohio area. Luckily, I can still see with glasses after my botched surgery, but it was one of the most frightening experiences of my life. The microkeratome lost it's grip (suction) on my left eye during the actual cutting of my cornea. Now my eyes cannot create tears and I will be using artificial tears every couple of hours for the rest of my life.
I could not agree with you more! As a very recent victim of identity theft costing me THOUSANDS of dollar and hundreds of hours, I am amazed at the lackadaisical manner in which so many companies treat our social security numbers. Gas companies require them for service, cable companies require them for service. Hell, a while back, Honda used them for their customer number which was freely available to anyone working on the car in any way!
I've always been passionate about protecting my SS number and not giving it out unless I had to, but I became a victim nevertheless.
The only thing I've been able to do is subscribe to a credit monitoring service to watch for changes in my account and get email notifications after the fact and deal with the messes as they happen. I have no means of changing my SS number, my birth date, my name or my mother's maiden name.
Basically, we're fucked - but why should they care. It's my life, not theirs.
The auction giant gets about half of its traffic from some form of online advertising, making it very dependent on Google.
"If eBay reduced its spending on Google, revenue at eBay would take a hit," says Jim Friedland, an analyst with Cowen & Co. "If eBay stopped spending on Google, the revenue decline would be dramatic and it would be disastrous for the stock. For better or for worse, eBay needs to continue to spend and grow its relationship with Google."
"Both the music and the lyrics are intellectual property, and each hold their own copyright."
There is no such thing as intellectual property. There are copyrights and patents which are handled far differently from each other. RMS discusses this far better than I ever could.
It has become fashionable to describe copyright, patents, and trademarks as "intellectual property". This fashion did not arise by accident--the term systematically distorts and confuses these issues, and its use was and is promoted by those who gain from this confusion. Anyone wishing to think clearly about any of these laws would do well to reject the term.
Having once been a fan of Tom's a few years back, I took a look at the current review for titled "The Pentium D: Intel's Dual Core Silver Bullet Previewed" for their choice of games used in the benchmarks - to help validate your comment. Ironically, the games used for this review were:
Quake III Arena
Quake III Team Arena
Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory
Doom III
Unreal Tournament 2004
Are these the "obscure" games you are mentioned? Although the article wasn't the least bit interesting and did feel like a marketing brochure, it also seemed (to me) to be unbiased.
I received a similar letter a few weeks back and immediately called my bank to find out if this was really going to affect my ability to use their online banking services. They told me that this will NOT cause any problems and I DON'T have to upgrade to continue using their online banking system. The only thing that I'll lose is my ability to Intuit's help desk, which I'll never do anyways.
Call your bank and check. You probably don't have to bother with it.
There's a very good reason for that, too. With Republicans in control of the House and Senate since he's been in office, the bills he would have vetoed were stopped before they reached his desk. For crying out load, you think the President doesn't hammer out those kinds of things with Congressmen?
Think about the idea of someone being able to say, "I disagree with you and I have the power to kill you without legal repercussions."
This one, regardless of party affiliation, is worth loudly saying NO to.

At first glance, I thought it said
Oprah Running...What a terrible, terrible thought.

This is the Google Map of the test site according to the USGS.

City Manager of Tuttle, Oklahoma proves to CentOS that they need a bigger "Internet Department". Read about it here. hehe
