First, the DVD will only be available as a collection.
Second, there will be several options for viewing the film: Luke can view the Imperial Star Destroyer with his binoculars from Tatooine or not, the Storm Troopers can speak in the voice of Jango Fett or not, Greedo or Han can shoot first, Yoda can be green or not, IG-88 can have a specially expanded role or not, the Snaggletooths can have politically correct dentistry or not, the Ewoks can look and sound like Ewoks or like Wookies, Anakin Skywalker can speak in the voice of Hayden Christensen or not, and Lando can get out of the second Death Star in time or not.
For episodes 1-3, special edition DVDs, there is a rumor that Natalie Portman's voice will be electronically replaced with the voice of Debbie Reynolds, the actual mother of Carrie Fisher.
Well, let's see. What has changed on Jupiter over the past few weeks? Nothing, except our probe hit Jupiter.
But no matter what your common sense tells you, remember this: my equations say that that is impossible, and thus it is impossible. You need not trouble me with your insolent questions. I am Science!
While reading the article, I thought, "Why don't we just take take all of our nuclear waste and dump it into live volcanoes?" That way it would melt and be rendered harmless.
Of course not. Are you acrazy? Do you realize how many millions of dollars NavTech has spent on developing their database, and how much they continue to spend? Do you realize how many years it has taken them? Do you realize how poor their return has been?
We're extremely lucky there any sites left that offer free NavTech data. Don't push it.
Well, I just happen to be an expert on that. First, take 37 to the loop around Indy. Go north to 65. Continue on 65 until 94, and go west. From 94, take 294 West/North. Then, 290 West/North. Then 90 West/North. This will take you to Madison.
Bring a bunch of quarters, dimes, and nickels to pay for toll. It's just a few bucks.
And when he sends his UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) up -- and they're hard targets to kill -- I can take them out.
Hook up an advanced laser weapon to advanced radar and you have the ultimate anti-aircraft weapon. If the US develops laser weapons, other countries can, too.
If other countries get these weapons, air power--the US's strongest military advantage--may become much less important. Lasers can shoot our planes out of the sky. Overall, laser weapons may reduce US power, not increase it.
That said, it may temporarily help the US to develop these weapons, as there will be a period of time before other countries get them. After that, however, these weapons will probably bite the US in the ass.
However I think the laptop is absolutely gorgeous.
However so much I think it is gorgeous, I must admit that it has another quality as well. This is what some call "the X Factor." What does "X" stand for? You figure it out.
What I'm saying is that, mmmmmmm, those lines, those curves--oh yeahhhh--they just do it for me.
I find it striking. So mathematical. So precise. So practical! I love it.
And yet....hmmmm. The colors. They're--how do you say--so Mondrian, so Vegas. The neon yellows and the puke green--they just don't do it for me.
It would be better with a pastel yellow, and a softer green, like a seagreen. As for the grey background. . . . Uck! That has to go. You can always use eggshell white.
All in all, I'd give it an A for originality, but only a B- for aesthetic value.
Advice to the artist: just improve your color choices and it will look great!
Well, that's one way of looking at it. The other way of looking at it is that the 1.4 series is a long-term branch. It's supposed to take the place of the long-term 1.0 branch. OTOH, the 1.5 series will be replaced shortly by 1.6. So, in that sense, 1.5 doesn't succeed 1.4.1. They're just different branches.
They didn't need a study. All they had to do was ask me.
It's doubly worse, though, when you are amongst your fellow rejectees, on a place like Slashdot, and you are flamed and ostracized. When the rejectees reject you, you are left with nothing but redundant dejection.
Oh, cry me a river. Physicists have dealt with the same situation--that some information cannot be made public--for decades. Now, in light of the possibility of a mass biological or chemical attack, the same practices are being extended to chemists and biologists. Agre protests too loudly.
You can't have scientific freedom without scientific responsibility.
Reading through this thread, I am absolutely struck by the ignorance displayed about the life and times of Isaac Newton. He is one of the most important figures in history. He lived a fascinating life. I'd recommend Michael White's biography, "Isaac Newton: The Last Sorceror" to the interested.
It drops all mail from Yahoo Groups. The server tends to be under water fairly often, and you can't get any of your e-mail during that time. Other times e-mail delivery is very slow, even though you can get to the POP3 server or the web server.
Oh, you mean "McDonald's." Another in a long line of errors.
Don't you just love how Slashdot is always at pains to speak of the natural sciences accurately, implying a laudable devotion to left brain thinking? Yet, when it comes to clear and correct use of language, Slashdot gives every impression of being utterly unconcerned. So, nerds are supposed to have big left brains and puny right brains?
Surely we are actually in agreement that policy makers should take into account both probability and potential intensity of harm when deciding how to expend scarce public resources on mitigating risks to the public. We should also be in agreement that this is scientifically well-advised.
You cannot have proper risk analysis (for those who haven't heard of it, look it up) without considering both probability and potential intensity of harm.
This is great news! I think I will take that vacation after all.
This brings up an important point. When you go to heaven, are you nude?

(2) That's where Osama and Saddam are hiding.
How about that?
Victoria's Secret not so secret anymore.

You, too? Actually, for me, Yahoo Maps has steered me wrong about 50 times, and gave me very unclear directions another 50 times.

What a relief!

Well, duh. That just cancels it out. Half of those prayers went to God, and half went to Satan.
That's like giving someone half a dose of medicine, and half a dose of poison. They don't get better, and you say: "See! Medicine no good."

You can create a separate desktop shortcut for it. That way you can have both.

He kept that stuff a secret, however. He was a secretive person. He kept his calculus secret for over a decade.
Play hot potato and give the problem to IT or, preferably, upper management.

As a right brained geek, yes, it does offend me.
