Has anyone noticed that they now describe Man Made Global warming, which nobody uses anymore to describe climate change based on man made contribution, or that is, to initiate a world wide carbon tax, is now generic Climate Change?
They had to. Thermometers joined the "denialist" camp at least 10 years ago, and kept denying that the planet is warming. But thermometers are still on board with daily temperature changes, so "Climate Change" it is!
Now the same people who'll tell you that 10 years of basically constant temperatures over the globe means nothing will also tell you that a rainy spring in Iowa means everything.
If this process ever reaches critical mass, schools will no longer have teachers, and corporations will have complete control over education. Just picture it, a student has trouble with a problem, they tap the help button on the iPad, and then a Pearson rep comes up in video chat. Ugh. And then that job will be outsourced.
Sounds awesome to me. Freed of government control and propaganda. Getting immediate help on your problem when you need it.
I'm so jealous of kids now a days, who have some hope to free themselves from soul crushing government schools and actually learn.
All hail Khan Academy! Like the Soviet Union, government education central planning is heading for the dustbin of history!
I taught a graduate level engineering course at a state university before I finished my PhD in engineering, but I'm not allowed to teach high school math. But my 5th grade math teacher who couldn't explain why 1/3 isn't the same as 33% was allowed, and duly "certified".
One thing that should be crytstal clear - this system has nothing to do with putting competent teachers in front of students, and everything to do with political patronage, power, and vested interests. The teaching degree is just a union card certifying that you paid into the vested interests in control of the government teaching paychecks.
It's also not trivial to pin a guy to the ground and beat the crap out of him.
But if you have enough advantage to take a guy down and beat him, you have enough advantage to take his gun or at least prevent him from shooting you, and that would be the primary focus of your efforts.
The media didn't "get the facts wrong", they deliberately cherry picked and distorted facts to fit their race hustling narrative. I believe some people were fired for doctoring the 911 tape to make Zimmerman appear to be a racist.
Notice how you took the gun from him. You didn't just punch him, you first removed the threat of the gun.
Yet under the theory of the Trayvon apologists, ZImmerman first threatens Trayvon with his gun, then Trayvon beats the crap out of him, but for some reason leaves him the gun so that Zimmerman can shoot him. That doesn't make a lick of sense, and anyone with any honesty can see that.
Watching someone is not aggression. That's what neighborhood watches do. Nor is it aggression to follow them on public streets to watch them. Trayvon could watch Zimmerman. Zimmerman could watch Trayvon. Either could legally approach the other.
And Zimmerman wasn't "told not to" by the 911 operator. He was told that they didn't *need* him to do that. 911 operators have no legal authority to tell anyone to do or not do anything. They were just making clear that they weren't telling him *to do* something.
So Trayvon is such a master of kung fu that he turns the tables on an armed man who gets the jump on him, pointing a gun at him, but having pinned his armed attacker to the ground and rained blows on him, somehow completely fails to disarm the man at that point, or even protect himself from the weapon.
This is the thing about this case. The Trayvon fans are completely unconcerned about reality. That's just not a realistic or probable scenario, and any honest person would see that.
The alternative scenario is quite realistic. Trayvon initiates an attack, pounds Zimmerman to the ground, and Zimmerman in a panic reaches for his weapon and shoots Trayvon. I do wonder if Zimmerman is lying about Trayvon going for the gun, but it doesn't really change the scenario.
Trayvon attacks Zimmerman. Zimmerman, after a taking a beating, pulls his gun and shoots Trayvon. Consistent with all known facts and common sense.
Also, the evidence supports Zimmerman's claim of being jumped. Besides the gunshot wound, Trayvon had no injuries besides bruised knuckles. Is that where we should suppose Zimmerman launched his sneak attack, butting his head into Trayvon's knuckles to bruise them?
Prosecutors can play whatever legal mumbo jumbo games they want - if you've got a gun to your head to "confess", no one should take that as an honest admission by you. You've *submitted* to power, there was no confession. I no more take guilty pleas as admissions of guilt than confessions of war crimes from prisoners of war.
"Plead guilty or we'll charge you with a million counts."
Pleading guilty should never be taken as an admission of guilt, only an admission that you're not powerful enough to stop the government from fucking you.
You are right, the Federal Government will continue to grab more and more--because the Federal Government thinks itself "God", it demands that we worship it.
The Government doesn't demand to be worshiped, your neighbors who *do* worship it demand that you do as well.
Intelligence does not equal expertise in all fields, even for Tyson. When people want something, they are motivated to special pleading, and money should be forcibly extracted from other people to pay for it.
Nothing to see here, folks. "Force my neighbors to fund what I want." Yawn.
"it will be a long time before a 65-ton road train is allowed on the roads without a human driver in charge. "
Indeed. Nothing beats a human on crystal meth.
It's one thing to be "in charge", it's another to have to manually do all the driving. I'd be surprised if trains really have no form of autopilot yet.
The natural solution is to allow human override of an autopiloted vehicle, which I assume is the case in planes, trains, and cargo ships.
Being poor involves constant threats to status and welfare, and constant stressors that people with more means don't have. One thing I've learned is that a lot of problems simply vanish if you throw money at them. Without the money to throw, you're facing a huge cognitive and emotional load that the financially secure are not burdened with.
We're from the government, and we're here to help.
How about you enter it in evernote or onenote, and then print it out if you want hardcopy?
Everything I've seen about this is useless so far, as I haven't seen a single dose of anything listed.
What dose of what over what time period for what population found no effect for what conditions?
On a statistical point, I'd note that failing to reject the null hypothesis does not imply accepting the null hypothesis.
Has anyone noticed that they now describe Man Made Global warming, which nobody uses anymore to describe climate change based on man made contribution, or that is, to initiate a world wide carbon tax, is now generic Climate Change?

Too cold, too hot, too much rain, too little rain, it's all the fault of that evil Bogeyman climate change.
The long term trend is warmer, wetter, greener, which has overall been good for food production.
Yes, that's what we need: more regulation allowing the government to control what we can and can't know.
And where are they going to get the stats on *how* to evaluate students, but by running a zillion students through the system?
The way this happens is by enrolling zillions of kids and taking stats. It won't be 30k, it will be free. See Khan Academy for details.

They wouldn't have had to fuck us a new asshole.

So Trayvon could beat the crap out of ZImmerman, but he found it impossible to either protect himself from Zimmerman's gun, or disarm Zimmerman?
Bullshit. That just doesn't make any sense.
Trayvon's first priority would be to protect himself from the gun, and he clearly had the physical advantage.

But it's easier to bitch and moan about it than it is to address the fundamental overpopulation problem.
You think there are too many people? I think you've just voted yourself off the island.
