Absolutely true. Money equals outcome in America. For example, I wanted to put an addition on my house. Not a chicken coup, but a viable addition which would allow them to up my taxes, etc. The ONLY way to get a property improvement approved is to hand over $1,000 to an attorney who is a friend of the township solicitor and bingo...you get to build your new addition. No money - no approval. If you have enough money you can slash your wife's throat and kill an innocent bystander. We all know that. If your a Senator you can molest children. The "system" is rigged so that you MUST pay to play. If a mortgage, kids and braces get in the way, then you lose. This is why Shakespeare was correct regarding lawyers.

Well written. I tend to agree we probably cannot return to our "old ways" but I think we are being sold out faster than we can cope socially and economically. Couple that with a rapidly declining education system and how can we possibly end-up on top economically. My belief is that the Dollar will at some point collapse and we will have to pay for our excesses. I have had my daughter in three private schools and even they keep lowering their standards. It's sad amd frustrating. On voting. Mine are protest votes. I have NO confidence in either party. I personally know some politicians who are really trying to do the right thing. Too bad. Yes, the world is changin rapidly, but outsourcing ourselves is not the complete answer. I have friends and co-workers moving BACK to India and China respectively. The reason...greater opportunity. It is already starting. Great 2 cents...makes me think :).

My day job? I work for a Mortgage company and make way more than I did as an engineer. Of course, I may be changing careers again the way things are going with subprimes. I work back-office operations not sales. Two of my closest friends from my college days just attained their law degrees and are both working at law firms near their homes. There you have it. The value of a technical degree. As long as there is "free trade" between India and China with respect to labor we have no shot. I submit very few engineers remain in their field. Mine was robotics. With foreign buy-outs and bankruptcy I was happy to leave the field. I guess I made some poor employment choices. Who knows.

Now about every six months current stations die and other generic "fat part of the bell curve" stations replace them. The reason listeners are declining is because the music quality is declining. Do you think people really want to buy a satellite receiver and pay $13 a month? They have to if they want good music. The up shot is that I have bought more CD's this year to listen to and from work. I used to only listen to the radio and now the radio is a part time device. What a pity.
