I'm 25 years old. I have never and currently don't floss. I've never had a cavity or gum problems. I do just brush my teeth, though, and go to the dentist once a year. Every year I hear two things from the dentist and his cronies:

    1. "you don't have any cavities"
    2. "make sure you floss"

For me, it appears brushing is just fine. Maybe my teeth are ideally spaced apart, or maybe flossing really isn't needed.

Yes you must be a lawyer (to be). Such statements make me shiver a little. You argue that a huge company can come in and stomp on a little guy who had a bright idea, on the grounds that the big company can "help" more people. Less people are "inconvenienced" if we give the rights to the huge company.

And in related news, the Supreme Court ruled on eminent domain that the government can give someone's private property away if it "benefits" more people.

Don't be so quick to step on the little guy, you may be suppressing new and creative people from coming forward. I'm not a lawyer nor an expert, but isn't that one of the purposes of copyright and patents? To encourage innovation. I won't present my brilliant ground breaking idea if I know a lawyer like you will steal it from me and give it to an already established company.

Senators would spend all their time renewing laws, rather than addressing the current issues. Oops! You're talking about the extreme car people who, as you say, are also 'out-there' and not part of normal society. I agree, and am not talking about the extreme, nor was the parent post. My point is that geeks get made fun of mostly for the activities they choose, which do indeed all involve being indoors and having little social interaction. The problem isn't that they choose abnormal activities, it's that their activities are withdrawn from society and the real world. Well yes, but the difference between playing video games all day vs. going to the pub is that you actually hang out with real people at a pub. Playing a video game has no social interaction, save maybe one other person playing with you, but you're both watching a screen the whole time. You may not like beer, but at least you can talk to people.

If you spend all weekend working on your computer, instead of working all week on your car like a Real Man

The difference: you're outside working on a car vs. inside staring at a monitor. You may not work on cars (I don't either), but at least you're outside in the real world and not cooped up all day doing nothing. After 4 hours of playing a video game, you're in the same position of life, nothing new accomplished. After working on a car, you have something to show for your time.....and now you can drive to the pub.

Oh no, 30 books. This isn't a book burning, this is a few psychos who decided it'd be fun to burn harry potter. The fact that the UK's news picked up on this massive event of unparalleled censorship is even more lame. There are much more terrible things that go on than 30 books being thrown out. Nobody in the linguistics field questions the content of the translation. If you look at the original Greek (and yes, we have the original Greek within 100 years of its first writing...this passage is from Romans), the content of the sentence stands academic criticism.
