There is no such thing as 1st, 2nd and 3rd world nations any more. There are only developed and developing nations, India being of the developing kind.
Where else can you get an official answer, I havn't been able to email any of the staff ever? They make sure the email isn't easy to find. I'm also a person who wants to contact them!
Tell me about it, I have a thought provoking story still pending from last friday. What annoys me most is there is no way of contacting the higher powers in order to find out what is going on. All the links posted go anywhere but their email address.
Apple went through heaps before ditching Copland. MS should just start from scratch and write a new OS from the ground up. Compatibility be damned, nobody is going to move away from Windows anyway, thats all people know or want to know. A company with 60Billion should weather the storm quite nicely.
True but like I said, I'd rather source the RAM myself and not pay for a machine that comes with even more RAM therefore upping the price. Sounds silly I know but thats my opinion.
Well, I am able to purchase as a student anyway, but thats besides the point. As a mac user and ex PC user, I know the difference between the platforms. I liked the fact you can custom build your system to any way you wanted. But with a mac as you know, you can't. I also accept why as well. Keep the hardware options smaller and you have a better and more stable machine. But the cynical side of me says, the machine *technically* is obsolete quicker because you cannot upgrade the all important processor as you can with a PC.
My point is, with Apples policy of selling the machines as they do, you have to go with it or go without. I choose to go with but for many reasons. So I support their policy of little RAM because the price is (seems) cheaper and speed wasn't a tangible reason. You do get other things you'd get with a mac that you won't get with a PC so that makes comparisions even harder. The only other option for me was to go linux with my existing PC hardware. Something which I tried and failed with before I got the mac.
God Damn! Last year they were saying 256mb wasn't enough and people complained, now Apple doubles it and the trolls are out again. Next year when they hit a 1GB for a machine, people are gonna bitch again and comment on how cheap 2GB of RAM is!
I prefer it (just like other people have said) to get my memory elsewhere and cheaper than Apple provides. I'd be pissed if they gave to much RAM and then overcharged on the entire system.
Question them, you won't get an answer! Seriously though, what I should do is actually encode the same song at differing rates to be sure, then I might be more objective on sound quality of music in encoded formats. My opinion at the moment is based on different songs at different rates though.
Yes, the file quality isn't bad, I don't understand why its a big issue at times. I have a good set of speakers as well and I cannot tell any difference, none of the songs I have bought make me sit up and notice and say "This song sounds shit, I'm not buying from iTunes again"! I even recently downgraded my music from 256kbs mp3 to 128kbs AAC as well. no difference to me other than filesize which saved me 4GB's.
I read the article btw, I think it is wrong in that it states that there are many more phones than mp3 players. While this is true, how many would upgrade their phones to the new music downloading phones plus would it be simpler to buy music off them when they might cost more than from a PC which they might already have?
Also while it seems that Apple does indeed set the price, it is well known that the music industries want to increase this but its because of Apple that they are still at the price of $0.99.
Yeah but I delete songs I don't like so there is no benefit doing it that way. However, if the album is really good and say only 1 song is bad, I'd just buy it in a sale or from amazon, which ever is cheaper first.
The RIAA cut out the middleman btw not Apple, it isn't Apple which dicates pricing nor the DRM, iTunes music store is the result of what the music industries want. However I do agree with you on all the other points. Although I do buy music from them, I resort to cherry picking good albums for their singles because I'm not prepared to pay for price for an album to get a few good songs.
There is also nothing wrong with selling 320kb songs in AAC either as long as the DRM wrapper isn't there, it is an open format after all.
Even the paragraphs are slightly biased. Using words like "resorting" as though its a fact. The wording should be less biased and more neutral. The word shouldn't have been included. It should have read:
In an attempt to rev-up their subscription-based music service, they are now... giving away 25 songs each month. According to RealNetworks chairman and chief executive Rob Glaser, "by having a free service that is legal, it flattens the issue of 'Why use an illegal service?'"
Why have you started talking about MS? I'm talking about company X who wants to sell proprietry software for the linux platform and charge X amount. Why can't they do this? You speak as though only free software can exist on the linux platform.
This won't succeed, this is the creative industries who would be using it most, they won't touch it. Besides where is the room, nearly everybody uses Adobe products anyway and it comes with the reader and the ability to make PDF's.
Why does it have to be free, you can still run proprietry software on linux, companies don't have to make it free. You are also assuming that linus users wouldn't pay.
"Yes yes, but are you going to watch it?"
Yours
George

My point was that I couldn't reach them, nothing more.

You mispelled Bruce Willis btw.
I own a mac btw.

I use 768 with no problems, then again, its what you do with it.

Explain in more detail please. What do you mean, it says more about me and explain the word "arbitrary".

thankyou, btw, i got that quote from slashdot at the bottom of its page!
