Actually Sean Hannity, the author of the book you mentioned, isn't a News anchor but the "conservative" host on the show Hannity and Colmes. As far as I know he's never actually reported from the newsdesk or narrated/coordinated a news report. He's just a commentator with a show on Fox.

I remember Stephen King did the same thing with his Green Mile series of books and it was quite a success.
